A cool site on Omega Speedmasters used on Space missions

Post by River Rat » Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:04 am

Just found this site.Just about all the manual wind Omega Speedmasters used by NASA are in the Air and Space museum in Washington DC except for three one given to the Family of a Astronaut and two in the Omega Museum.I wonder if the Air and Space Museum has them all on display.

Cool site  . Conflicting reasons why Armstrong didnt wear his Speedmaster on his Moon walk though. I have read reports saying he left his Speedmaster in the LEM because its crystal had popped off.
I love the Speedmasters "space" history. Still the only watch "Flight-qualified by NASA" :salute:

great article.

why it is one of the most historic, classic and functional watches around.

A must for an omega fan.

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had

From everything I've read, Armstrong left his Speedmaster in the LEM because the clocks therein had malfunctioned. That left Collins with redundancy.

I heard it was because his Rolex GMT looked better with the spacesuit. That and he wanted to make sure if there was any female alien life on the moon, he could impress them with a Roller.

I'm wasting my 1000th post @ DWC to add "WTF" to this thread.
