Had seen this you guys, maybe you did as well.
Evidently Swatch will be, or is now offering the original MoonSwatch online.
Not that we should order one up or anything, but I thought the news
was worth posting up. And I know that a lot of us have often wondered
why they weren’t sold online to begin with.
Especially since they seemed to sell out so fast in the stores.

I probably would have ordered one if they were available online right at or shortly after release. I don't have much of an interest in one now.

Greg, and Russel, I was thinking the same, and was wondering if maybe
there was a surplus and now selling them online has become necessary.
And Greg, wow, yours looks unbelievable as well as much less plasticky !
Thanks very very much for giving your thoughts about this, as well as
showing the terrific Speedmaster pic !!!

In Toronto. They were originally only available at a major mall main store and had nothing except for the yellow sun one.
While in another major mall near me. Turns out theres a Swatch store and they had all the models along with the Blancpain ones.
Price Canadian was $345

Hmmm. I might be amenable to $254 USD lumped with a 10% or 15% off sale. I'd like a speedy now but won't be buying a steel one. Wasn't attracted to them 10-15 years ago when I would have considered the purchase (at the lower price).

I remember buying a speedy brand new from an AD for $1600. I can't wrap my mind around $8000, or whatever they are now.
As for the Swatch, as others have said I was mildly interested when they were announced, but the hype and lack of availability was a turn-off. Don't really want one now.

$1600
Incredible, I remember when the speedy was $2500 new.
I still think at $6000 or so it is wildly underpriced compared to some crap that’s out there, but I am biased, I think it’s the best chronograph design ever made.
That said, I was gifted a moonswatch recently (the new new light blue one - I think it’s called northern lights or so) and it works surprisingly well.
A great watch for the price, but would definitely not stand in line for it.

Yup, I walked into J Robert's Jewelers and wrote a $1600 check, they didn't want to pay cc fees. You could also get a SMP 2254.50 for the same price, which I did on another trip. I know, I'm showing my age!

Good times. I passed on a 2254.50 at around the same price at Fortunoff’s back in the day. Remember it clear as day. Back then you could get the quartz version second hand on TZ for about $800.

Bought my long-sold one in 2000 at Amsterdam Airport Duty Free for just over 1K. Those were the days.

Why do we do this??? I had both a Professional and Reduced, BNIB that I purchased from a small jeweler on Ferry Street in Newark, New Jersey. I think it was the early 1990’s, if memory serves me and I really don’t remember spending that much on them. Certainly well under $1,000 each, as that was a lot of money to me back then and still is now. Unfortunately, those Omegas are long gone, what a dope!

I’m considering one of these or the Blancpain as a gift. Any recommendations?

I was gifted the northern lights one, and it works surprisingly well on the wrist.
I think you want to get a “crazy” one as they’re meant to be a fun watch (my opinion obviously).
The lava one is also very cool

Thank you. I don’t think those two versions are available online.

Then I would go for the Pluto one.
It has enough color to stand out but is also a pretty classy combination IMO.
Another one that works surprising well on the wrist, more so than in pics.

These seem to be fun watches with a touch of class. Will have to try one...

For what it’s worth, I stumbled during my travels into three different boutiques in big cities in Europe (Paris, Amsterdam, Milan) and all three had stock.
They seem to be very available at least on this side of the ocean.
I’m very willing to buy and ship, with zero upcharge of course, for any longstanding BODs that wants one in case you have trouble.
The flagship boutique in the capital city I live in is 10 mins walking from my place, so don’t be shy. Not a big deal for me.

How do the Moonswatch watches compare in terms of price and availability to the original Omega Speedmaster Professional watches?
I believe most of the Moonswatch watches are readily available now. The Speedmaster pro is readily available and costs roughly twenty times more than a Moonswatch.

No way this has not impacted the OG moonwatch sales and value .
Omega are making big bucks and could care less .

It has actually impacted the regular Moonwatch positively due to a heightened awareness of the model. Sales increased.
