Is Jake still in business? His website is only partially configured, and there's nothing for sale save for some odd-looking "Seiko" mods.

The Covid Charade still inflicts collateral damage to this day.

Yes, during the Covid period Jake could not ship anything, could not go to the Post Office or use other regular shipping means. Totally killed the business. He is in Canada now with his family, that is is native country.

Jake did a nice job of carrying on Noah’s legacy. It’s a shame big government tyranny caused his demise.

That sounds very strange, the post offices never closed in HK during COVID.
HK had very restrictive covid measures in terms of quarantine when entering the country (at a certain point it was 3 weeks in designated hotels), but once out life was much closer to normal than most other places. Restaurants never closed, for example.
The only nuisance was mandatory masking.

That’s odd… in the hobby flashlight world it really delayed orders and a lot of lost orders for Hank (Emisar) and Jack (FFlite) in HK. To the point they had to stop orders because of all of the lost packages/money in shipping and upset customers.

I hope things get back to normal for Jake & his family; my interactions with him were always positive. (and I wouldn't hate it if he brought back the Tsunami, once things are squared away...)

His words to me.

I actually had ordered quite a few things as he was having a sale but after two months and no shipping and he telling me he had no idea when he was able to send, I had to ask him to cancel.
Odd? Yes, then again in Italy and probably some other parts, if you were found walking or driving without a permit or an actual emergency reason to be outside, you would get fined...

I would guess the real issue was with Chinese production of parts.
HK relied/relies a lot on Chinese manufacturing, and china factories were 100% shut down during covid.

It is difficult to say for sure whether Jake is still in business from the website itself.

There was a reply from Jake on reddit a while back where he said
is-dagaz-going-out-of-business-v0-p5lqbqduv60b1.jpg
See thread here...
https://www.reddit.com/r/SeikoMods/comm ... _business/
There is a reply to the thread of someone who says he picked up some of Jake's parts and has them for sale here.
https://secondhandmods.com/collections/ ... atch-parts
Picked up parts from Jake off and on over the years and sad to see him go.

I tried to shake him down for some Bonefrog dials, but he says he doesn’t have any more.

China took over HK. Now HK is fk'd. It's not really communism, at least not any more. Nothing more than harsh authoritarian regimes and a lot of PR to cover it up. .

Harsh authoritarianism is always the steady state of communism.

I honestly had nothing but terrible issues dealing Jake over the years.
Sucks he had to leave HK. Crazy times there it seems.
