Seamaster clasp upgrade - even more awesome now
I decided to try the new Seamaster buckle upgrade on the previous version. After some research on the net i was quite sure it was possible but my AD officially said no but the the watch guy there is cool and said it would fit so paid up the £87 and it was in the AD within the week.
The new clasp is fitted to the old bracelet no issues and what a great upgrade! The sliding dive extension is perfect for small adjustments on warm days.
The clasp is longer and thicker than the original but it perfectly balances the weight of the watch and reduces the watch rotating. It still has the full dive extension if needed.
Rather strangely where the clasp connects to the bracelet, there is no movement any more. It looks like the clasp joint is machined slightly differently to avoid wiggle but it in no way impedes comfort.
I am very happy with this upgrade and can highly recommend it.
For reference the UK part number is 117STZ001159 for the 20mm bracelet
Now all I need is some of this vicious hot weather that is promised so I can puff up and try it out....

Is that the bigger version with the most adjustment? It really looks big.

Great upgrade. I’m still hoping Sinn will release something similar.

There might be something in the works for the silicon strap.para13cord wrote:Great upgrade. I’m still hoping Sinn will release something similar.

I may need that to put on an older Omega bracelet. Can you hold it for me while I check compatibility?Ruggs wrote:^^About time, if so.CGSshorty wrote:There might be something in the works for the silicon strap.para13cord wrote:Great upgrade. I’m still hoping Sinn will release something similar.

I got this info from Rob at Topper's a while back:JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:19 pmIs that the bigger version with the most adjustment? It really looks big.
The clasp ending in 4666 is 34.5mm long.
The clasp ending in 1154 is 39.5mm long.
The clasp ending in 1159 is 44mm long.
Clasp 4666 has 3 adjustments, while 1154 and 1159 both have 6 adjustments.

A Sinn rep at the NYC WatchBuys Road Show told me something was in the works for the bracelet.
It would be great if that works out to be true.

Thanks for the information. I need to get a couple of these, but I definitely don’t want the long one.mattcantwin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:31 pmI got this info from Rob at Topper's a while back:JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 3:19 pmIs that the bigger version with the most adjustment? Re: Seamaster clasp upgrade - even more awesome now
I believe the reason the 1159 is longer is because of the the diver's extension portion (I noticed my 2018 Seamaster clasp was longer than my SMC300 1154 clasp and then realized it had the diver's extension). Unless I'm mistaken, both the 1154 and the 1159 have the same 6 positions (Ed now has my SMC300 so that's from memory). The 4666 clasp only has 3 positions, so unless it's a perfect fit when closed on a "cold" wrist, it's not as useful. I'd guess the 1154 is the one you want.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:34 pmThanks for the information. I remember you mentioning that, I was disappointed they didn’t show it at baselworld.mattcantwin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:33 pmA Sinn rep at the NYC WatchBuys Road Show told me something was in the works for the bracelet.

Definitely worth the small size increase on the Omega

Luckily, the bracelet fits me perfectly. I can’t wear the silicone strap, though.deepcdvr wrote:Yessir - only reason I flipped all three of my U-1’smattcantwin wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 4:33 pmA Sinn rep at the NYC WatchBuys Road Show told me something was in the works for the bracelet.

The watch is too heavy on the bracelet, though, for a non-adjustable clasp on my wrist; changes dimensions too much throughout the day
