He went on to say its he number 1 reason they see watches with water damage.

I bought my wife a vintage datejust for Xmas a couple of years ago. I never mentioned the screw down crown to her. She kept bringing it to me to set the time, until I finally asked her why she wasn't doing it. She said that she couldn't figure out how to pull the crown out and didn't want to force it. It had never even occurred to me to mention it. I had become so used to screw down crowns that I forgot that a lot of watches don't have them, particularly quartz watches (and she had a pretty nice Raymond Weil before I bought her the Rollie).

At least she didn't try to force it. If you're reading this honey, I love you!
