Project GMT Pre-order Process Changes
This is what we are going to try for this next round. Whether we continue with this format or return to the standard format will depend upon how this round goes. We are trying out this alternative format because of the feedback from disappointed customers about the limitations of the cart system. It's worth mentioning again that this is a limitation of most of the shopping cart systems out there. This is something that I figured out to try to make the process more pleasant. If it causes more confusion than it solves we will have to return to the "scrum" method instead.
Here are the changes:
We will select people via the mailing list. Essentially this will be done at random. (Sign-up instructions to follow below)
We will set the price of the Project GMT at $999,999.99 (not the real price, obviously). This is designed so that only the people that are selected will be able to order (see next).
We will send a coupon code to those customers that are selected that will reduce the price down to the actual price. The customers will have 7 days to use the coupon code, after which it will expire automatically and a new person will be selected from the remaining emails we have on record. If for whatever reason you do not use the coupon code in time you will have to try your luck again in the next round, the reservation will not be held or rolled-over under any circumstances.
The cut-off time to submit your email address for this latest round will be Friday Feb. 6th. If you have received this email you are already on the list and do not need to sign-up again.
MSRP will be increased by $200 to $1,595. This only applies to pre-orders from this date forward. This is NOT retro-active. If you placed your pre-order before Feb. 2015 your price will stay the same at $1,395

WOW!!! That sounds like a shady ass setup even more than it did before. What he doesn't understand is "How You order the watches" isn't the problem, it is the "production" of the watches. What a tool bag.

You'd have a better chance of playing pick up sticks with your butt cheeks than me placing a preorder with Bill Yao

Yup. You need to be a plank holder to get the initial price. This isn't new forAxelay2003 wrote:And he upped the MSRP by $200! From Feb and on, watch will cost $1595.00! Shit, F that!

Re: MkII
This makes no sense and screams dodgy - what's more enjoyable about a lottery where the prize is paying more for a watch than the guys who lined up last month?
It reeks of scam.

Re: MkII
Nope: If you were a plank owner, cost was $1195. Then he raised the price to be the MSRP of $1395 if you get in after the initial 60.gonzomantis wrote:Yup. Now, he raises the MSRP to $1595?! The guy is on crack. I've followed this one since the orders opened for the Planks. I've lost interest a long time ago. Following this is just hilarious.

The people who paid 3 years ago should be a little satisfied now that their initial investment of $1195 increased to $1595. They made $400 in over 3 years!
Per his website:
Plankowner Price: $1,195 plus S&H on bracelet (MSRP $1,395 plus S&H)
* Plankowner slots: 60 (In the event of over-subscription we will open a e-mail waiting list)
* Deposit require: $600
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

A whopping 84% of 'white tuna' was actually escolar, the snake mackerel fish that causes oily anal leakage and was banned by the FDA until 1992.
Re: MkII
I'm assuming Bernie Madoff is advising him.
Here's an idea for pre-orders - try to follow it:
1. Design a new watch, announce it, and open pre-orders.
2. Collect those pre-orders and deposits from customers.
3. Manufacture the watch in a timely fashion (I cannot stress this step enough).
4. Fufill the pre-orders, collecting the balance of the price from customers.
It's a radical system, I know, but think about it and give it a chance.
