Re: WUS Scam?
It's either "scam" or "dipshit kid wishful thinking". It has the ring of naivety combined with expectations, so I vote the latter.
Re: WUS Scam?
Reminds me of a guy trying to lowball me on some stuff at a garage sale. He said, I only have $17, what can you do. I finally gave in and he smiled as he pulled a wad of $20s out to pay me.
I took the stuff back and sent him packing...

I received a message like that when selling the SMP... he started by apologizing due to the low-ball offer he was going to make as he was a college student. I don't believe it was scam, but needless to say, I did not sell the watch to him.

Did you reply "Forget about the watches and focus on your studies. Then, in three years, you can buy at full price"?Joeprez wrote:I received a message like that when selling the SMP... he started by apologizing due to the low-ball offer he was going to make as he was a college student. Re: WUS Scam?
It's complete bullshit. He's tossing three issues at you in hopes you feel for him. None are likely true.
- high school
- saving for college
- brother with illness
If any of those are true he's an idiot.
- no high school kid needs his "grail" watch yet
- if realty saving for college, it should be his priority
- if his brother is ill and family money is tight, even $600 for a watch is silly.
Tell him to fuck himself.

As much as that tugs at my heartstrings, and I believe every HS student is entitled to have their grail watch, NO!

I think in high-school I wore a Timex Ironman. $40 watch seems about right.
Plenty of time to buy a nice watch later in life. Grails don't need to be picked up in high-school

Any kid who's more interested in watches than spending his money getting chicks drunk needs to reexamine their priorities.jeckyll wrote:I think in high-school I wore a Timex Ironman. $40 watch seems about right.

I am 44 years old. My grail watch is a Rolex MilSub. I am willing to pay $600 for it. Times are tough as I have two perfectly healthy children who insist on wearing clothing and eating, and as I have a wife. Won't you help a worthy cause?

Re: WUS Scam?
I don't have a Speedmaster but do you think he would take my Rolex ND Sub for $600???

Re: WUS Scam?
No way - it's not his grail.jimyritz wrote:I don't have a Speedmaster but do you think he would take my Rolex ND Sub for $600???

Also, I would point out this is only a scam if you agree to it and then he doesn't pay you the $600. Otherwise, it's not a scam - it's just irretrievably stupid.

Tell him you are saving for your own 12 seater hot tub, and that keeping your 6 biiaatches in new bikini's & full body waxes is crippling your your vintage Ferrari fund.
Tell him that your brother needs a new 911, as his old one is a bit dirty. Mention he would be doing you a great deed by paying you $8k for the watch, all for a good cause.
