Ok, so I've got a sweet Omega 2892-A2 movement I've been waiting for the perfect case for.....I found this for sale. Seller claims caseback says planet Ocean and OO7 on it.
Now I have a REAL 45mm 007 LE Planet Ocean and I've been comparing this case to it. He says the dial measured 33mm,and the lugs measure 20mm. Only one of these can be correct depending on which PO (45mm has 33mm dial showing, 42mm has 20 mm lugs).
In his defense, by his description, I can tell that he either knows very little about watches or that he wants to appear as such.
I've asked him to send me a picture of the back, that will tell me a lot.
I do see something a little funny at the pip, where the bottom of the triangle point should extend all of the way to the inside edge of the bezel insert. That one seems rounded under the pip, but it could be some kind of wear. AS IN a worn case which had its parts transfered to a new case???????
The HE valve looks to be correctly positioned to me, which is something the counterfeiters can't quite seem to get right. (or I am misinterpreting the angle of the lay of the case compared to camera angle.
What do you guys see? If you all overwhelmingly think it's real, I'm getting it.
I do want to see if he sends me a pic of the back though.
Update: on my real PO I measured my lugs, 22mm. Using calipers I find that the same 22mm is the exact dimension from the outside tip of minute tick #2 of the bezel to the outside tip of the minute tick #13.
If I then use my calipers and set them at the lug width in the photo, It fits the same two ticks on the bezel in the pic, placing those two points in the photo in correct scale, suggesting that my seller is incorrect about the lug size.
Cheers.

I see what you mean with the pip, but I think it is just the lighting. If you look, you can see the triangle extend and meet the inside of the bezel. The HE valve looks to be in the proper position.
Does he have any shots of the sides of the case? That can give you some insight on the positioning of the crown and HE valve as well as the condition/finishing.
BTW - How much is he asking and did he tell you how he got the case?
Good luck man!!

There are a couple of info updates editted into my original post.
My 007 LE PO is the Q of S version.
If anyone owns a Casino Royale version please post a pic of the caseback for reference in case the buyer sends me the case back pic I requested.
Thanks.

Tough call, it could be a real case with an aftermarket bezel insert! The crowns look alot better than oscars but i would really like to see the caseback! My question is why would he be parting out a PO and only have the case?

Is the PO crown really that shrouded? I've mainly had the 42mm versions, and the crown didn't seem that recessed.

Crown recession is the only thing that I see wrong with it, but then again I'm not a real WIS, so what the hell do I know?

Good luck!

Too close to call with the shitty pics. The guys that scam people on fake crap have mastered the art of shitty pics, positioning, and bad lighting. It's way more difficult to tell nowadays than looking for the position of the HE valve.
