Re: The Seiko Problem...
Seiko's divers rock...I've been a fan for 30+ years. Looking forward to a few more. Maybe a Shogun but for sure a 015 Tuna and a SD Land Master.
Cheers

Expat wrote:I think if I was really being honest I might have to admit that Seikos and Gs are my favorite watches. Certainly I've worn Gs and 6309s, and even the quartz version of the 6309, (forget the number) more than any other watches I've owned.
Every time I see a Marine Master, a 6309 or a 6105 I want it. I love the history of the Rolexes and the Tudors, but on the wrist I always go for my G or, when I have one, a 6309 or the like.
I always told myself this was because I couldn't get the NSD, the Sub, or the Dopple, the Ingy, or the Pam...but now I've had them all and I'm still thinking I want another beat up Seiko.
I may finally do it. I'll just have to spend my money on Drew straps and knives, maybe a new bike.
Pretty cool post right there. Been through many Seikos and have enjoyed each and every one. Having one in the mix is the key for me.
One watch that I actually miss and regret selling - probably the only one I have regretted....

Re: The Seiko Problem...
Their end link fit sucks in most cases. They don't make the end link wide enough and it always rattles in the lugs and drives me nuts. My two Sumos were terrible about it, but I wouldn't mind getting another and wearing it on a zulu or nato. I have a drawer full of 1 piece 20mm straps tempting me to do it. The Tuna bracelet is the only one I didn't have this rattle issue with.fastward wrote:The bracelet on almost all Seikos doesn't match the level of quality of the head.hoppyjr wrote:Except on the Shogunfastward wrote:Seiko makes a nice watch at a variety of price points, my issue is that they do 99% of the job and always leave something to be desired.
That does not make a difference for you.![]()
However, I still want another one.
Re: The Seiko Problem...
I love my SKX. It's seen more actual water than any of my others. And with a NATO style strap, it's the only one that works with a dry suit.

Ok so where did you source the bezel and insert? I want to do that to an SKX.jbw wrote:Wear this the most out of my Seiko's

Re: The Seiko Problem...
I've only owned one Seiko and it lasted about 6 months before the battery took a shit. I'm too busy to go out of my way to replace a battery on a watch i dont wear. That said, I'm looking to hopefully snag the Landmaster or a GS diver in the near future. We'll see. They're definitely growing on me.

Most seiko leave me cold, but there are definitely diamonds in there. Much respect for 6105, 62MAS, Silverwave, Tuna, MM300...

If I had to trim down my collection, I'd let the Ingenieur, PO, SMP, JLC MCC2, and PAM328 go before dumping the Sumo. Great watch, with the attraction enhanced by its amazing value.

Seiko must have the most diverse product line in thw watch world. They actually make something for everyone.

Re: The Seiko Problem...
They don't make a high quality automatic diver in a medium sized case, which is a huge shame. I wish they offered a MM300 quality watch which was 2mm smaller and featured a bracelet that could center the clasp on a 6.5 inch wrist. The updated Tuna gives me hope that such a watch will appear in the future.Rackness wrote:Seiko must have the most diverse product line in thw watch world. They actually make something for everyone.
Re: The Seiko Problem...
Good point. The divers do hover on the larger side. And I guess they don't have a leopard print jewel encrusted model either so I modify my statement. They have something for almost everyone.

The strange thing is that the Japanese are often slim. You'd think they would have some JDM diver option for those guys. Even the GS divers are all fairly large.Rackness wrote:Good point. I have noticed that many persons of the Asian persuasion wear larger watches. Particularly the younger crowd. Perhaps it is the fashionable look?JP Chestnut wrote:The strange thing is that the Japanese are often slim. You'd think they would have some JDM diver option for those guys. That's the Brightz diver isn't it? I considered that one, but discounted it when I heard it was out of production? Are they still making it?CesarG wrote:SAGQ005/7JP Chestnut wrote: They don't make a high quality automatic diver in a medium sized case, which is a huge shame.

His pictures next to the Shogun are surprising. It doesn't look materially smaller. The lugs look sort of long in fact.marchone wrote:Hoppy had one. 8L35 GS movement. $2K new. Looks worth sourcing.

I never paid attention to that model before. I like it save the crown and date window. Still, it has a lot going for it.

This is why, Seiko is one of my favorite brands... You clan buy a 50$ Auto and keep on escalating the $$$$ ladder.. impressiveRackness wrote:Seiko must have the most diverse product line in thw watch world. They actually make something for everyone.

I had the Stargate and loved it.
Very comfortable on the wrist. Sold it because I didn't love hour markers and it wore small for its spec size.
