Re: who got this on fleay
Thought you mite of been in the bidding. When I got mine I paid a little higher than they were selling at the time but ones in good shape don't come up often. Now it's way past what I paid. The way I see it Mike if you could hold on to this watch for about 5 years before you flip it they will be going for about 4500 in five years you watch. Think I paid 2700 for mine years ago look how much they went up and I had the itch bad for one still that's the most I ever paid for a watch paid less for the Tudor Snowflake and it doubled in price all most you never loose money with vintage if you do your home work.
Re: who got this on fleay
I was watching- more than I would pay.
I did win something lastnight though, should have it Monday. Right up your guys alley.

that was a really nice one with NSA bracelet and papers... figured it would get close to $4k... except he mentioned the bezel turns both ways, which it shouldn't
paid less than half the sales price for mine a few years back, but I didn't get the bracelet with mine
but did buy it from a Navy SEAL in Coronado who got it in Israel and had been diving with it a bunch since... one of the all time great mil-divers imho

He bought it for $4K. He almost sold it last year, but I think he didn't get his number.

Is ebay the best place to sell watches like this? Don't the fees take a huge chunk out of it?

True Chris, but we are a bunch of tight wads on the forums. eBay can get some run-ups, but in general I guess it washes.

wait, the seller had $4k into it?demer03 wrote:He bought it for $4K. He almost sold it last year, but I think he didn't get his number.

ebay takes 10%, PP another 3-4%... those numbers do add up

Did not know this either. Good to know. As for the Kontiki IDF, I was bidding on it too but knew it was going to be too rich for my blood. Great piece!gr8sw wrote:did not know that... thanks, Master Wumatt.wu wrote:Fees on watches top out at $250.

$3550 - $106.50 for PP fees - $250 ebay fees = $3193.50
That is a fine looking piece.

Re: who got this on fleay
best way to sell a piece like that is to post here at DWC late on a Thursday or Friday and hope you catch demer or gr8sw in a time of weakness -- drinking or overly tired....... maybe even TR if he is drinking by the pool...

Re: who got this on fleay
I all ways tell members you never loose on vintage you know what's funny when they did the reissue the original with history and what made the reissue possible to be remade could be had cheaper than the reissue well now the original IDF has went way past the price of the reissue and is a more easy resale for flippers I was once offered a Rolex in trade still wonder if I should of went for that GMT. Still glad I got mine when I did when they were a little cheaper.
