Shogun vs MM300

To me the Shogun looks like an expensive Sumo... have always liked the look, finish work on the MM300.... To be honest I know nothing of these newer Seiko as mine are all from the 70's but always wanted to try a Sumo mainly because of the price point..

I've never seen the MM300 in person, but I'm sure its nicer. The Shogun is a great watch and wears great because of the titanium construction. I Brightz Titanium MM300 would be perfect....

I wish I could see them both. The MM has always interested me, but I fear the size would be too big for a 6.5 inch type of guy.

I have the same issue...definitely have to try them on first.

Mike, I wear a Nettuno and it fits perfect but the way the bottom of the MM case bevels in it actually fits almost the same. So you definitely could pull it off. It fits better than a 42mm Tridente imo.

After owning the Sumo & Shogun they are so very different. Both wore amazingly comfortable and probably the most comfortable watches I've owned. Sumo's a hell of a watch with its only big downfall being the long lugs. Not a bracelet guy so wearing it on rubber, leather or canvas is a no go unless you don't mind the huge gap. Nothing bad to say about the Shogun. The dial always looked a bit cheap to me but so did my Emperor, Darth & my other Tuna's so maybe it's just me. Sumo may be the better value but that's open to debate as one may place a higher value on a Ti finish. Never handled a MM300 but I'm sure it's on a another level. Looks like a well built piece.

The Shogun looks like a modern "super-sub" like the Tudor Pelagos. Someone should post a vs thread about these 2 but obviously the Tudor will be on top being 3-4x more expensive? Still I think the Seiko could give it a run.

Got the MM300 and love it, I much prefer it to the Shogun, though that is now my daily wearer and I have it on the bracelet now.

The price structure suggests otherwise. Nevermind the MM600 is Spring Drive.

In any case, I just snagged Jason's Shogun sight unseen. The dimensions seem to work for me. I had a MM300 in my hands some months back at Red Bar. It was too tall for my tastes and the dial seemed cramped.

I'd also like to see a Shogun next to a Pelagos. Maybe Jason will share his ownership experience with both of them. He did mention the Shogun is more accurate than his Pelagos.

Damn, I do need the MM300. I love my Sumo, but have always found it a bit big. I bet the MM300 would be perfect on my wrist just like the Tuna.
