Paul, if you look around, it is likely LESS than a grand more for an SD....

(if you do insist on a sub, though, go NO DATE!!!!) :stir:

just go to an AD that has both and try them on. its only 1mm but ask any of the guys. it looks, feels and wears alot bigger. I was actually shocked when I put a SD up to my Sub. but I think the SD is the one for you. like I've said before, you don't want to hang a $3,000 meatball out there and then regret not getting the SD...

The SD is f'ing made for guys like you! If that's what you want, get it. In the long run, the price difference won't matter to you, and you'll have your dream watch.

(I really should tell you to get the sub. I'm waiting for a good deal on a SD to pop up and don't want you getting to it first  ).

Don't want to jinx it and it's a couple of months away anyway, so I might change my mind. One thing I can do is keep a secret.

That's it right there mate!

FWIW - I checked out a few Rolexes the other day to see what all the fuss was about

And like you, I couldn't see the big difference b/w the Sub & the SD with 1.5mm or whatever it is.....

I have to say though, the SD was FAR more substantial than the Sub. Both in weight & just the overall wrist presence. Both seemed tiny to me in comparison to my AD Tac but the SD just felt far more substantial to me.

I would pick the SD over the Sub in a heartbeat if that's what you really want

I like the wobbly, chunky, ever present feel of the head on the SD. But there is something to be said for the comfort of an ~SMP-like Sub that hugs your wrist also. [Insert standard answer here] Get'em both! Just be sure to save room in the watchbox for that PAM 25 on rubber also.

My SD is more in line with the PO I flipped. It's comfortable, but still lets you know it's there at the end of the day. Now ... my GMT? It's like buttah dude. Seriously, it's the most comfortable watch I've ever worn. EVAR !!!!!!

I hear the Explorer II even beats out the GMT II for comfort. Gonna have to try one out eventually.... you know they did make those in 1983....

I think I'm about to cave on the white Explorer II. It was the watch that originally got me interested in Rolexes. I'm dying to see one of the new ones with an orange GMT hand.

You gotta get yourself an Alpha to try out first - come on, Chris, you know how it works.

If I had a sub/ SD I would go with a polar E2, then a 18K DJ.

Just buy the SD and be done with it! I would wear mine more often if it was as big as my Citizen TiZilla or Helson Shark Diver but I can solve that problem with a DSSD but I promise myself I would not spend that much money on a watch again..
