Seamaster arrives

Post by suddha » Wed Dec 16, 2009 8:07 am

Some quick and dirties. I was going to do an unboxing photo shoot, but decided against it.

I like the beadblasted finish. Completely de-blings the watch and gives it an almost titanium appearance. This thing is so light compared to the Ploprof that I've had on for two weeks. A perfect alternative.

Sold my wife's Doxa Coralline today as well, so the house went from a Doxa house to an Omega house in two weeks' time. I think I'm done now, guys... No really - I HAVE to be done.

I was going to say that you work quick, but I already said that the last time when you bought the AT. BB Omega looks, dare I say, "toolish" .

Back to my roots.... My first nice watch was a PO. Wish I never sold it. I think I'm good now.

I think the black face really changes the character of the watch for the better. I've never been crazy about the electric blue, but the black is very nice. Really sharp looking.
No thanks, I'm trying to cut down

Personally - I really like bead-blasted finishes. Nice pickup on this one.

Haha, You said that with the Doxa GMT (and pretty much every other watch you've had the last yeat) too! Well, congrats! They sure look lovely!

Man, that was fast, jason! Congrats! That bb finish looks great, too. I was unsure how that'd look on the SMP, but it really fits that watch. You're on a roll!! :fro:

I know I'm all over the map with watches the past few months. Time to settle down. Tall order I know, but I'm going to try to live with the two I've got for........ all of 2010. Gotta set lofty goals, right? But seriously, if there's something one of these two Omegas can't do for me, something is wrong. The SMP wears like my old Sub without the Rolex baggage and will work for any business or sports scenarios. The Ploprof is, well, what it is and one that I'll wear just cos it makes me smile.

I'm even thinking of selling the Aqualand but everyone needs a quartz beater, right?

Think I can do it? You guys should start a betting pool to see how long I make it.

Congrats! Never seen a SMP bead blasted before, but I like it! Don`t think I would dare to do anything like that to one of my own watches though
So is there some sort of poll on how long these will stay or will I have to start one myself?

To my wrist, this SMP wears identically to my old Sub. Very flat and lightweight, super comfortable. The bracelet is much better than the Sub's thought - the clasp is typical nice Omega, albeit no microadjustment holes. Zero rattling. The bezel is even better than I thought it would be - turns nicely and easily gripped.

The beadblast job is amazing - the guy got every millimeter - sides, bezel, links, clasp... The case back is BB'd but he left the hippocampus and Seamaster writing polished. Pretty swanky job. Don't know who did it, but the jeweler who sized the bracelet today liked it so much he asked me to find out who did the work.

Ploprof ain't going nowhere.... I will be buried with that watch on. You can take that promise to the bank. The SMP will take me through 2010. Mark my words! (And I'm not even a politician. )

Jason, where are you planning on being buried?

Just kidding, the SMP looks perfect! I love the finish, and the one thing i didnt like about the SMP was the bracelet look, and this one you have is great IMO.

A bead blasted SMP, and a new ploprof. I think if i had to choose anyones collection here, id prolly pick yours.

The SMP looks great. You work too fast, I wish I had known about the Doxa Coralline, it would have been nice for local pickup. 8-)
