Great boots. I was wearing a pair of 'em today, in fact! I haven't yet managed to find any shoe trees that fit them properly, though, so I make do with those Alden ones with the wedge dealie in the front. What about you?

Hey guys,

Chris, yes, I'll get some better pics but am about to collect the kids from swimming so it'll be tomorrow now. I don't use shoe trees Ryan, although I've read that this does help them keep shape.

Sorry Chris, I posted replies but didn't see your post. They're the Comfort Craftsman in Sandstone. Kind of an unusual colour, but I like the look so  Although I tend to wear a business-type suit for work, I do have a little flexibility, and have taken over the last year to wearing Williams canvas jeans and my other Craftsman boots sometimes. This year I'll be teaching a lot less than previously so shall probably do so more often

I had the distinct misfortune to find the Leather Soul site.
These are Aldens, and they're comfortable as old slippers.

If you use cedar shoe trees after you kick off your boots, they'll not only keep their shape better, but they'll also last significantly longer. The cedar dries the leather out gently and keeps it from cracking. It seems to kill the foot funk, too.

That's my only complaint with RMW - they should include them with their boots, as many other companies do with their handmade stuff:

Anyway, it's worth getting a set next time you're around a place that sells them, since it's the best thing you can do for those great-looking boots of yours.

Just did a little internet boot shopping and it appears prices have gone up quite a bit-

Danner Mountain Light 2s are now over $300  I bought 2 pair in 2010 for under $200 each
Danner Ft Lewis are now over $300  Bought a pair about 5 years ago for under $200
Zamberlan Civettas are now about $300  Last pair I bought 4 years ago were $200

Bought my summer-weight Zamberlans in 1988, and although a little battered, still good for duty

Sure-I still have a 20 year old pair of Vasque Sundowners-the good ones made in Italy-that are still wearable. I have about 12 pair of boots and most will probably outlast me. I just buy them when I get a good deal etc. I was just amazed at the inflation rate.
