2500 Euro for a strap, you betcha...
For those that have to have "the" vintage strap here you go. If I could afford the watch they match up too, it`s just a drop in the bucket as they say.

You know, even though I cant afford most of the finer things in life, I am a true believer most of the time that you get what you pay for.
But, anyone who pays 3 grand for a strap, is retarted. You can have awesome straps made by many of the custom strap makers for $200.
$3 grand for a leather strap...seriously....WTF.

Re: 2500 Euro for a strap, you betcha...
I understand what you are saying, but these are for a different customer. A guy restoring a vintage Rolex wouldn't use an aftermarket bracelet just because there are cheaper options available. If you are going for a complete Pre-V package the price of these straps is not not really an impediment.tattoo chef wrote:You know, even though I cant afford most of the finer things in life, I am a true believer most of the time that you get what you pay for.

Should have known by reading the title of the thread that it would be PAM related.
WTF, €2500 for a leather strap?
Reminds me of this exchange from The Last Boyscout.

Joe Hallenbeck: Leather pants.
Jimmy Dix: Yeah.
Joe Hallenbeck: What's something like that run?
Jimmy Dix: Six-fifty.
Joe Hallenbeck: Six hundred and fifty dollars?
Jimmy Dix: Yeah.
Joe Hallenbeck: They're pants.
Jimmy Dix: Yeah.
Joe Hallenbeck: You wear them?
Jimmy Dix: YES.
Joe Hallenbeck: They don't, like, have a TV in them or something?
Jimmy Dix: Nope.
Joe Hallenbeck: I am very old.

Really ? Than why do the jackasses here wear 6k rolexes on natos?
There's no material on earth especially leather that can dictate those prices.
And Ur a major strap whore, so no one gives a Crap about Ur opinion

Agreed Pat. It is not logical but some of these collectors have more money than sense.patstarrx wrote:CGSshorty wrote:I understand what you are saying, but these are for a different customer. Nothing except they are OEM and in perfect condition. There were very few made in the first place and most of those were used up as there was not the huge aftermarket strap market there is now. Guys like Micah and Greg Stevens have been making straps for a relatively short amount of time.

The free market. If there is a buyer, then the price is "right".patstarrx wrote:Maybe so, but someone tell me what makes those straps $3k?

The guys that buy these straps aren't playing on the same field we are. These are all fairly rare collectibles, and those prices are nothing for these guys.

Same field? I'm all about buying the 'original/OEM, etc' and I believe that there are plenty of people who would call us crazy for buying 5K+ watches, but... 3K for a relatively thin leather strap?dukerules wrote:The guys that buy these straps aren't playing on the same field we are.

Same field as the rest of us?
I've seen guys wandering around on fields before.
They are sometimes referred to as targets.

The guys who are buying these straps are the ones forking out 30-70k for a watch with a $100.00 movement in it to complete it.
Now I get it....
