Japanese reissue Benrus Type I

Post by vegaban » Wed Oct 05, 2011 7:16 am

There are Benrus Type I and Type II's reissues available in Japan exclusively.
The Benrus Type II was exclusively only available in BEAMS Stores and they only made 300 of them three years ago. They are unavailable at BEAMS now, and sell on Japanese auctions for $1500.00 sometimes. They are Swiss quartz and 10 ATM watches, stamped "BEAMS+" on the back for the BEAMS Stores.

The Benrus Type I is more readily available, selling for 28-29,000 yen in Japan on their Amazon site. They will not ship anywhere outside Japan in this Japanese site. Go figure. However, they can also be found on Ebay now by Japanese sellers for around $499.99. They are Swiss quartz and 10 ATM as well.

Aravas, a good friend of mine, got one, but didn´t like the Tritium tubes of the hands...I took them away and relumed the hands...Now looks like this... :headbang:

Quite nice indeed.

I kind of like those trit tubes on the reissue. Done rather nicely... you almost don't notice them. :salute:

But for a purist, no trit for sure. :fro:

Nice photo's.But I don't know if I would pay 1500.00 for a remake and it's a quartz when you can get a original for the same price and I seen the originals sell for lower than 1500.00 here's my original that I got for less than 1500.00.

Your pictures are always misleading. :banplz:

You make any crappy watch look fantastic, so I can't comment on the watch above based on your pics, .
It's a beautiful world! Gerald.

Nice job Vegaban ! Really nice !!! :salute: Now it really looks like the original. Not that
the tubes didn't look good, but this gives it more of that tradition feel. Just fits
more with the style, and even era that these type of watches come from.

You must be so happy with how it turned out !

Looks terrific on this strap here by the way. Congratulations, and keep enjoying !

 Reissue, homage, or fake?

I thought the Benrus name had been bought by a fashion brand company. If these aren't made by Benrus, but they're branded as such, they're fakes.

Plus weren't the originals all sterile dial?

The old style steel marathon navigator is pretty much the same thing. You could argue that as it was issued its closer. They run around 300 used and are not exactly rare.
