This site is, btw, highly entertaining! I love reading the threads, and moderation is fairly light, which is refreshing. Almost got kicked off the WUS Doxa forum awhile back. Gotta pretty much toe the line over there. Understandable though, as Doxa moderates.
What do you think of this combo? I purchased this tropical Flieger for a chrono I once had, then thought the 1200 might look good wearing it. I like it, personally. Some wouldn't dream of putting a dive watch on leather, but I think it works.

Might be the first time I have seen a Doxa on a brown leather strap. Interesting.

Ahhhh, the 750T Searambler. Damn how i miss mine. Unfortunately, buying it back from the guy in Germany would mean plopping down way more than I care too and way more than it would be worth (to me, anyway). So, I look forward to many pics to come of that one Mike....well, I mean, as long as you have it, anyway.

Here are a couple of different looks of the 1200 on brown leather. The straight ends accentuate the case size, IMO, and the thickness of the leather brings it pretty flush to the case, which looks pretty good.
I dunno...I like it. Every once in awhile you have to change things up and keep a watch fresh. I also like the 1200 on a 2-ring zulu that is black with the skinny orange stripe down the middle.

This one makes me infinitely happy. A refurbed to like new 6309-7040 with the 6105 dial. I purchased the mesh for it and the combo is killer! Got this one off the bay for $150 shipped and it runs within COSC standards. There's no hack feature, of course, but I time it occasionally and I'm about +2 to +3 consistently. The guy I purchased from did an impeccable job.

I own a Doxa 750T and I can't be happier with it. Never had a issue with the watch or the company.

I'm sure it will break now that I just said that. :raised:

Hahaha!!!! Yeah, don't jink yourself!
The mesh was off the bay. Seller's handle is wjean28. This is the second one I've gotten from him and they are outstanding in every way. He claims they are 1:1 spec'ed to the Omega mesh with regard to build, mesh size and construction, clasp, etc. I've never handled an Omega mesh, but I can't see how a mesh could be constructed any better than this one. Built like a tank and verrrry comfortable to wear. I like the "open ends" (like the Omega mesh) that the bars pass through. Instead of paying the $69 "Buy It Now" price, I bid on mine and payed about $55 shipped. Worth EVERY penny and instantly gives the watch a real retro look and feel. I had my first mesh on a Precista PRS-14 and that looked great. I sold the Precista because it was too close to the Omega. I'm trying to buy only watches that represent themselves, so to speak. Although I did recently purchase a Marina Militare (44mm in titanium) that is the most incredible $90 watch I've ever owned. Spot on time and looks great.

So you had issues owning a quality homage but you are enjoying your cheapo counterfeit? :raised:

Hey, I'm keeping you guys guessing, ain't I?
:banghead:

Another reason I ditched the Precista is because I didn't like the owner dude. Plus, I owned the PRS-3 (blue limited) before the PRS-14 and BOTH watches had bezels that didn't align. I started questioning the QC on their board and was immediately beeeeotch-slapped :smack: by many "followers" that evidently don't care too much about quality and getting the little things right. I thought the owner sent me a real weenie email ripping me for daring to question quality. I basically said that if I'm going to plunk $700 down for a "limited" watch, the bezel damn sure better be aligned. Turns out I received numerous PMs from guys whose Precista bezels didn't align either. Really? I've owned a number of Seikos and they ALL had perfectly aligned bezels.

Needless to say, I'm all done with Precista homage watches, which most of them are.

I will sheepishly tell you too that I absolutely LOVE my cheapie counterfeit Pam!!! ;)

If you don't drink Eddie's koolaid at TZ-UK, you'll be out of there in a heartbeat. It's like a matter of UK national pride that nobody says anything bad about Precista there. But I have owned watches costing much more than $700 with misaligned bezels, so I wouldn't single him out in that regard. It is a bit ironic though, since the TZ-UK crew love to bash Doxa for their poor QC.

I even tried to slip a few words in like "Cheerio," "Mate," and "Kit," but they didn't buy it and exposed me for the Midwest dope I truly am...haha!!!

Seriously though...if you're going to put out limited runs of a particular watch, the bezel alignment is something you simply assume will be right. It is one of the most glaring visual QC no-nos a watchmaker can make. Bezel doesn't align? What else then have they overlooked?

No, I won't stand for misaligned bezels, particularly wide-spread cases of it. If I purchase a watch now, whether it's new or pre-loved, I demand that the bezel is aligned properly. I sent a watch back to a well-known U.S. seller for that very reason.

wjean...William! Great guy to deal with. I should have realized from the open end pieces that it was one of the mesh bracelets he sells. Might just have to pick one of those up for my 6105.

I have my second WJean mesh enroute, but it's entrapped in the Canada Post lockout/strike.

I understand Doxa wanted to lower their cost, but they didn't seem to lower the prices much. Another thing is, I see the vintage Seiko's on a lot of forums, I don't understand why Seiko never brought that style of diver back or kept making the models like Rolex and Omega have been. They don't get rid of best selling designs, that's why they stay classic in some cases. Doxa seems to keep that tradition going, but minus introducing one or two new models with a different look.

GREAT point about Seiko abandoning such a cool case design. I don't get it either. If they came out with the 6105 or 6309 again, could you imagine? Man, they couldn't keep up with production!!! Those pristine 6105s are just too expensive for me, so my 6309-7040 with the 6105 dial is a pretty nice way to get that iconic Seiko look!!!
BTW, look at this site and check out the 6105-8110...ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!! What is Seiko thinking? See that asymmetrical case design?! I'd eat one of these up if Seiko brought it back. Plus, it has such a steep history and track record with Viet Nam soldiers. Lots of guys bought these at the PX.

Love this shot of the 6105 on Martin Sheen's wrist...
