Doxa cases made in china?

Doxa QA has full oversight on ALL aspects of their components. I own a 1200T Pro, and let me assure you, Doxa is the shit...period.

If you have big glaring concerns about Doxa, I would recommend you buy one. You won't be disappointed. Doxa makes a watch that is second to none.

PS - On a slightly more serious note, it's not the Far East connection that is troubling for me, it's their spotty QC, abhorrent CS, and overall opaqueness that sours me on their products.

BTW, that yellow Divingstar is absolutely gorgeous!!!!
I'm somewhat unique in that I snagged a near-perfect 1200 Pro and that will be my "lifetime" piece. I don't have the kind of bread to be wheeling and dealing in the Doxa world. I am more than happy with my 1200, but I hear others when they talk of QC and CS.

It's a cool looking watch, no doubt. The dial is def. cool, but for that kind of money I'm going for the most I can spend for the best watch. UTS makes their own cases in Germany, one guy makes them by hand. You can't beat that for assurance.

It's not about assurance. Different watches push different buttons individually. Buy what you like....like what you buy. I personally have danced around UTS. No doubt on the provenance, but I am not sure it would stick....but, it's all personal.

UTS is definitely an acquired taste -- those lugs aren't for everyone...

I wouldn't rule out owning one but the whole price thing they have going on reminds me of OrientUSA's coupon scheme. I hate the whole secret price, factory price, special price, retail price, etc., blah blah blah, thing. If I end up paying retail for a fine, Swiss marque, I don't want to feel like I got taken to the cleaners. It's very discount clubby, the whole vibe over there. Rusty hands and Chinese cases for that money fills me with righteous indignation. But, the just look so damn cool.

Anybody seen Dive Detectives? When I see the Dad rocking his 750? I always cringe, a little. I think "this guy is a bad-ass diver but I bet he doesn't know the scoop on that watch." I feel embarrassed for him... unless it found it on EDS.

Why does it even matter? He's probably more concerned about his dives, then where the case of his watch was manufactured.

Seriously. If your Doxa hate is making you embarrassed for somebody on TV, the problem is with you not them. The DD guy no doubt likes his Doxa because it's a great tool to wear while he actually dives. My guess is that if he read this he'd be embarrassed for you because you're spending time with a bunch of desk divers on an internet site quibbling about Walca.

The watch looks cool to a lot of people and tons of real world divers agree that it works well for that purpose. Most don't think about anything beyond that.

This site is, btw, highly entertaining! I love reading the threads, and moderation is fairly light, which is refreshing. Almost got kicked off the WUS Doxa forum awhile back. Gotta pretty much toe the line over there. Understandable though, as Doxa moderates.
What do you think of this combo? I purchased this tropical Flieger for a chrono I once had, then thought the 1200 might look good wearing it. I like it, personally. Some wouldn't dream of putting a dive watch on leather, but I think it works.
