I'm sorry, but:

Troll but I just can't get past the clown nose. I know it a good watch, one of the great ones, but I can't pull the trigger. Please send help.
Man, all-white hands with red "fuses." That would be neat.

It's a love-it-or-hate it watch. I love mine. Not a daily wearer for me, I use mine for rough stuff, like kiddie bathtime. Seriously, I've had mine for two years, abused it pretty good, and it looks new (except for the damn water spots on the outer AR). Wearing it all week at the beach this week. Oh and it's also the best timekeeper I own. Pretty good for close to a grand used.

It's definitely a weird watch. Still, it is also a very serious timepiece that comes at a too good to be true bargain. I love it, but I admit I didn't 'get it' before I actually owned one.

its engineering & bad-ass factor to cost ratio is off the charts.

I always wished that they put the UX/U2 hands on the U1 as well.....or at least offered it as an option....
The thing rocks with a black bezel though...and the bracelet is sublime

(one of the many I've loved and lost...)

I didnt "get it" until I owned one either but after having mine for almost a year, it's definitely one of the best-buys in the watch game.

Friggin BINGO.
A clown nose compared to a Sinn U1? Are you shitting me? You could beat that clown's ass with a U1 and a string.
Sinn U1 = the most bad ass watch on the planet. Bar none.

I think UX or U2 beats it BUT U1 has the best bad assness per $ ratio.

I don't know what's worse. That baboon ass above or the doggie dick comment regarding the new JSAR. Now both comments are stuck in my head when I see both of these watches. BASTARDS!

First, everything said here (except Seth's non-sense) is true. The U1 is bazangin!
Both of mine were balls on accurate, great value and easy to sell quickly.
Second, a dutch guy went packing not so long ago for posting monkey porn. He may have posted some clowns too. Beside your Sinn blasphemy, the baboon ass and pedophile clown are pushing the envelop of everything right and decent about the DWC.

I was on the fence for a while about this one, but I ended up picking one up and I never regretted. This is an amazing watch. I was not really thrilled about the 'lego block' hands, but it really is a fine hunk of metal. Plus, I dig the shorter lug-to-lug measurement - no doubt it's a big watch, but it doesn't wear like a wall clock on your wrist. And it's uber-comfortable on Sinn rubber or nato.
If it's any consolation, these have great resale on the FS boards. So if you pick up a used one to try it out, chances are you'll get most of your coin back if you want to sell it.
Go for it man!

Honestly, I didn't "get" Sinn until I owned a couple. They aren't always the prettiest thing to look at, but when you read up on the engineering, Sinn is quite impressive. Those crazy friggin' Germans really know how to make a watch. I had the 556 (which I love and will probably get another) and the U2. The U2 is one bad ass diver/gmt. I wouldn't mind picking up a U1. I prefer the U series on rubber. For me, the Sinn rubber is da bomb diggity.
