I am about 43 seconds, house to boat launch. I fish year’round, Coho, Chinook mostly. Spot prawns (you call them shrimp) are plentiful, as are Dungeness Crab.
I bought the house on Bowen Island in 2019, when CoVid scared everybody away...19 min ferry from West Vancouver, runs every hour.
Definitely living the dream.
Awesome Dave! Did you guys sell the house in town and move completely out of the city?
No, we still have a house in W Van…I’m trying to convince the wife to move to Pender Harbour. I’d like 15-20 acres, so I don’t have to see any neighbours

I've posted this before, but my wife is a marine biologist, and you can see some of the fish/sharks/rays that she has worked up. Most of the water scenery pictures are probably within a 1/2 hour of our house and of our boat.

Fly fishing on a fast river is a full time job.

Yes it is. I prefer high mountain lakes and smaller streams. Less people, more quiet, and the fish generally aren’t as skittish.

His personal best 2lber on top water (more of a floating jerk bait) called the OSP bent minnow. Caught 4 on it this morning in the lake i've never caught fish on using a top water method (having tried many times). Apparently this lure is quite the rage in Australia and Japan, and starting to get a cult following here. Would be great for stripper in its larger sizes:
That personal best lasted about an hour when he caught what we're calling a 3lber on no other than a 5" weightless watermelon senko rigged on a weedless offset wide gap hook. He was soooo excited!
New Stradic 3000 HG with 8lb super sniper fluorocarbon, Gloomis 802S JWR rod. Such a sweet setup for senkos.

My place is on Bowen Island. It's a 20 min ferry (every hour) from West Vancouver. My house is on the west side of the Island, boat launch (rocks) is a minute away, so many places to fish!

I’ve heard of that before, especially with the tuna fishermen around me. They use the drone for spotting fish. Tuna will swim near the surface and can be seen using spotting planes, and now drones.
I’ve also heard of guys using drones to drop bait near the lounging tuna so the boat doesn’t spook them.
Years ago, my neighbor welded up a 4’ slingshot and used surgical tubing to launch bait.

Drones are big for dropping bait for shark fishing off the NI beaches. I think they’ve been banned for this purpose in some places.

Woah that's awesome!
I did the commemorative Operation Market Garden jump back in '01 (pre-9/11) as a chosen member of 325th glider regiment out of C47s, and then met up with my unit to have two months of Fallschirmjäger fun throughout Germany and Holland, exchanging tactics, RTC350-1-2 with my then CAG platoon sergeant, and overall unit exchange for German sports badge and Schützenschnur.
We toured the entire area of Operation Market Garden with the German Para's and had way much fun doing so. Needless to say, the women in Holland still like a AA and Screaming Eagle shoulder patch.
Best months of my life!
At any rate, going to get back on the water next weekend... Too much baseball stuff happening, including a pushed back opening day and hit-a-thon

I always thought it was funny when people said “AA” stood for “Athletic Alcoholics”.
