Be interesting to see how it plays out. An appeal doesn't change the finding they stole the tech...seems that Apple will still have a problem.

Eh, I see them settling with the company and then giving them a small chunk of sales and it all goes away.bedlam wrote:Be interesting to see how it plays out. An appeal doesn't change the finding they stole the tech...seems that Apple will still have a problem.
I’ll honestly be shocked if Apple isn’t allowed to continue selling them or if they have to remove the feature.

I've only worn my ultra 2 maybe a dozen times since I got it. I thought I would use it a lot more when I'm working out to track my heart rate etc. but I prefer no watch at all or a g-shock in terms of having the watch get out of my way and not having to worry about accidentally bashing it when I'm working out, so now it just sits on my desk.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
Bought and sold mine in relatively short order. I just prefer Garmin.

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
Still wear mine a lot. With a 1000 different custom faces it’s the best digital watch I’ve ever had in my life.

I wanted one badly, till I found out I can’t do CarPlay with the watch alone, still need to have phone on you. I know it’s a software thing they could just turn on too, and yet they don’t. The appeal to me was being able to run out of house without my phone, still have a watch on but be connected in car and still get whatever messages and notifications I want when out.ezcheese wrote:I've only worn my ultra 2 maybe a dozen times since I got it. When they make CarPlay standalone with the watch, then I will get one.

Those are some great dials. I know nothing about how to download those faces. Is it an app or are they built into the watch as standard?Panerai7 wrote:Still wear mine a lot. With a 1000 different custom faces it’s the best digital watch I’ve ever had in my life.

Thanks Don. Yep, it’s an app that takes over the Home Screen. All functions remain intact like notifications etc.tattoo chef wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:44 amThose are some great dials. What’s the app with all the faces, if you don’t mind.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:55 amThanks Don. Yep, it’s an app that takes over the Home Screen. Facer is one of them...

Re: Apple made a dive watch?
I believe it's Clockology (I've tried it). but it's not true "all functions remain intact". While some of the faces can have simple complications, you can't touch them to bring up the related app (like messages or health) as you can with the built in faces, nor can they easily be cusomized to add/remove complications.
It also won't run more than an hour before it returns to the current built in face unless you "wake" the watch (just though moving your wrist and looking at it is enough), else it returns the to built in face and you have to re-launch the Clockology app to get you custom face back (same thing if you press the digital crown, the app goes away and the built in face returns). You also can't swipe down to get your notification list as you can with built in faces.
It does have access to many cool watch faces, though many of them (like above) are a trademark infringement (a case Samsung already lost). I don't know what's the appeal to a watch person, as it's akin to a replica watch.
All in all I found it to restrictive, though to each his own.

Clockology is the one I use. Facer is another one as Dave mentioned but I’ve never used it in OS, only for Androidabuemily wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 12:19 pmWhat’s the app with all the faces, if you don’t mind.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 28, 2023 6:55 amThanks Don. You still get notifications and alerts.
Re: Apple made a dive watch?
I use my ultra quite a bit - and I have several Garmin products, including the best ever built, the Epix Pro Gen 2.
I won’t say “apples and oranges” for obvious reasons, but imo, the Iwatch and Garmin smartwatches are completely different so one could easily have both types in their collection and employ them as tools in varied situations.
