What’s The Deal With Halios These Days?

Post by ezcheese » Sun Jan 29, 2023 12:45 pm

Looks like Halios blew up over the last few years. I looked up Jason’s account here and it looks like he hasn’t posted since 2018. Is it difficult to get a new Halios when they come out?

I always liked them but never wanted to deal with the ordering process.

Nice watches but pain in the ass to actually purchase at retail.

Yeah he’s been quite popular over the past few years, even with immense competition, which is great considering how long ago he started now. But yeah they have a whack ordering process, website gets overloaded and you have to wake up at like 3 am to get online to order one when they drop as they sell out so quick.
And they usually sell for over MSRP on the secondary market, especially some of the more eagerly anticipated pieces.

i thought for the last couple of releases, he did preorders instead of a mad rush to swamp his web site.

Yes, it’s been a lottery to my knowledge. If your number is pulled, you get to buy.

Jesus! I guess that’s why that Teddy Baldassarre guy referred to them as the “Rolex of micros”

I just don’t play those games to spend money. I guess I’m an old fuxk who doesn’t wanna jump through any hoops to give anyone money. Get off my lawn….

I don’t remember lottery. It was preorders with a refundable down payment. But I haven’t bought anything since the 3rd gen seaforth.

Apparently, Gen IV was a lottery to those who bought previous Seaforths direct from Jason (so far just the pink dials). I’ve only bought mine from folks here, so I guess no pink for me. :crybaby:

ah, ok. i missed that. i didn't think the next couple of models were lotteries. i have a friend who bought one i'm sure would have been weirded out by buying in a lottery.

Cool watches, annoying buying process. I don’t get in long lines for bourbon either

I can’t speak on the past but I have a Seaforth IV coming . Never bought from Jason before and have had no issues to date. All communication was via e-mail…

I poked around his website yesterday and joined the discord server last night. Sounds like I should just email Jason to get the straight dope directly from him

I liked Halios when Jason first started the company. I shot photos of a couple of watches for him. But his new stuff does not interest me at all....too small, too dressy and too many fruity colors. IMO he needs to get back to his dive watch roots. But then, it looks like there is a market for the stuff he is selling now.

lol. So you’re not a fan

I don’t think he needs too, seems to be just fine with his current watch styles. That’s what a lot of people want it seems.
The Seaforths are at the limit for me size-wise. As for colors, he has has the non fruity classic black and blue and grey dials Image what I like the least is the update process and ordering gymnastics Image

There are too darn many 36-38mm men watches though. Good grief.

It does seem that the small wristed have risen to power. There certainly are a lot of 36-38mm watches out there now

it's just a swing of the pendulum. there was a long stretch where you couldn't get anything under 40mm unless it was from the 70s or earlier. everything was 44-47mm.
