SOTC - TOP 4
SOTC - TOP 4
I'll never be a 'one watch' dude.... Thought I'd start a thread for everyone's top 3 or 4.
My quick plug for these four watches - I've owned (rented?) a LOT of watches over the years - I still have about 20 or so, mainly sub 1K pieces...
These are my top four - I could live with just these if I had to.
The Garmin Tactix Delta has pretty much everything anyone would ever need in a high-end ABC/fitness/tactical (jump/infrared, etc) watch. Totally bad ass.
The Ares (I currently have 3 of them) is my all-around/daily watch for anything rough. Fantastic watches, imo, and between the lume and the incredible accuracy, they are worth every penny.
The Doxa just fits like a dream and the pro dials remind me of my diving lineage. This 300T brings a smile to my ugly grill every time I put it on.
The Tudor is probably going to be my exit watch at some point. I like everything about it - especially this two-liner with the ETA movement. Volumes have been written about this watch so no need to add to others' reviews, but for me, I just love the Titanium weight and dark tone, nuclear lume and the clasp - just an fantastic piece in every respect - Brice should give one a try.. ....
Anyway, what are your top 3/4 pieces?

Solid group, good thread idea.
Here's mine:
And, in a separate category; a sentimental favorite.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
I had been a 2 watch rotation guy for a while, however, that turned out to be short lived! The 4 most worn right now would be the Sub, speedy, BB Blue, polar Exp II.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
I like this thread idea. I kept trying to be a 1 watch guy but have enjoyed settling into a larger daily rotation, especially since my current rotation each has a different vibe and represents 3 countries. My current top 4:
Sinn U50: After having owned numerous U1's and other chunky Sinn's, It's little brother turns out to be the perfect U-series for me. All of the U1 goodness in a lighter, more wearable package, with a better movement than the U1. Since purchasing last year, this is the one that I wear the most.
16600: Only Rolex diver that I have ever lusted after. Don't like the modern glossy ceramic Rolex divers, but this one just works for me and I love the size. This one is circa 2000 with drilled lugs and solid end links.
GS Quartz GMT: Only non-diver of the group. Dressy when it needs to be, tough enough to wear while doing anything, and probably my most comfortable watch. Great grab and go to have in the collection.
Sbbn015 Tuna: I tend to wear watches in the +/-40mm range, but I maintain that this is the best Quartz Tuna design, and enjoy wearing it as my weekend knock around watch as a nice change of pace.

Nice! Currently have 7 watches plus 6 Gshocks and an Apple watch.
Top 4 would be:
My 2500 PO of course:
Seiko Prospex "Willard":
And the BB58 and Speedy:
If I add a Seamaster GMT (I want one that doesn't exist yet, a new Seamaster with GMT movement) or a Rolex Exp II Polar, I think I'd be happy with a "Top 5" and the G shocks, which I keep a couple of them because my kid and wife sometimes wear them... in reality one would suffice.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
One watch? No. One model? Yes. I'm all in on the Explorer II 16570. Just not interested in wearing anything else, and I was finally able to pick up a polar to go with the black. It's the one watch that I come back to over and over. Perfect size for me, and I love the date and gmt functions. Can be dressed up or down. Not flashy and tough as hell.
I'd love a 1655 and a cream dial 16550, but I don't ever see that happening because of the prices, which are firmly in AP/Patek territory (in which case I'd probably be buying an AP or a Patek).
The only other thing I need is something for the beach or biking, so I'm picking up a NAFT for that. I guess it might be nice to have a true dress watch at some point, but nothing in my price range really interests me. And I am a bit intrigued by the Seiko alpinist re-issues coming out in August (without the compass or the fume dial).
Couple of pics of the Explorers (pardon my foot):

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
That’s a hard call for me. I’m going to take this as a question about wrist time top 4 rather than the last 4 I’d sell because they are different lists.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
Going off the last 3 I would keep. I would have to think about a 4th one to make the group.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
This is easy for me since I only have 3 "nice" watches, plus an SKX and a couple g shock beaters, and a few sentimental vintage watches I inherited.
Getting the most wrist time is the Explorer 114270 I recently bought from RMM. Wasn't really looking for it - I'm on the list at a couple local ADs for the new Explorer. I'd normally be hesitant to buy an older, used Rolex, but when it became available from RMM I jumped on it. The plan is still to buy the new one if/when available, at which point this will move on to another DWC member. Part of me says just keep this, but I promised myself the new one as my 60th bday present, because as many Rolex as I've had, I've never actually bought one new from an AD.
I also have two Black Bay 58s. I got the original black dial when it was first released and it's been a daily wearer for 3 years, at times my only watch.
Then on a recent impulse, I also bought the blue version while checking in with an AD about the Explorer. It's beautiful, but so far I've only worn it for about an hour total, only because I really shouldn't have splurged on it so soon after buying the Explorer. Guilt I guess. I'll either sell it or just start wearing it at some point soon.

Technos Skydiver 500mm

Omega 300
Eterna Kontiki Super IDF issued
Re: SOTC - TOP 4
The four I don't ever expect to part with. The Speedy and the MKII I have owned twice (same piece each time). The UDT is the one I replaced my trashed original with and started me down this road. The GMT is my retirement present to myself and my grail watch.

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
I've had the GS for 6 months which is an eternity for me
The 2254 is like your favorite drink at your favorite bar, or seeing an old friend, or comfy pair of slippers or...well you get the idea
The Seiko SNR033 is the newest and ticks a lot of boxes as Wu says. Hopefully will be traveling again soon
The Japan Racing was back from Omega Service around last Christmas and is good to good for many, many years.
Last but not least, I re-acquired an OG Kermit. Love the 5 digit case paired with maxi dial/hands

Re: SOTC - TOP 4
Most worn watch.
Newest, and really enjoying.
Oldest (literally, my grandfather’s)
The 4th was the hardest choice. Aqua Terra? PADI? Ended up on the 556, but I’d probably change my mind depending on the day and
my mood.
