Omega has the 39.5mm Planet Ocean 600 coming in at a shade under 15mm thick.

Looks like Rolex will be releasing a new Explorer 2 at the same time.
Wow another sports model that will be next to impossible to get. ATM I'm pretty over the whole lack of supply and BS AD dance you need know in order to get a sports watch at MSRP.
When it was Daytonas and things like that I could deal with it. Now it’s basically anything inclusive of all the decent Tudors. Who has time for that shit?
If I were starting from scratch now with luxury watches, I’d be looking at Omega instead of Rolex or Tudor. Omega has its fair share of misses, but now that they seem to have figured out the coaxial movement they’ve got plenty of good designs to choose from, and you can actually buy them without any drama.
Does omega have a bb58 sized diver? If so, that would be a good watch.
They have the 39.5mm Planet Ocean, but it’s very thick compared to the BB58. The biggest issue I have with some Omegas is the thickness. But lots of the designs are aesthetically appealing despite that and they’re available.

That's what I figured. I thought maybe one of their million throwback style divers might be a decent size. There are really no modern sports watches, besides the BB58, that are a size I want. Rolex went from selling nothing but watches that were sized to my taste to now selling only the Daytona. I'm not feeling the modern watches at all.

15mm thick on a sub-40mm watch is thick. we've had a movement toward the vintage, skindiver style thinner watches over the past 5-10 years and omega has ignored that. tudor has not.

While not excessively thick by modern standards, even my 42x14.2mm PO2500 is what I'd consider "chunky." The 12mm 14060M Sub is a nice thickness. I assume the BB58 is similar based on looks.

it's a few millimeters wider, too. BB58 is 39mm and 12mm thick.

If Rolex would do a 38-39mm datejust without the PCLs or polished top lugs, they’d have a buyer in me (assuming I could find one). The Omega 38mm AT is a nice looking watch with reasonable thickness, but I don’t want to give up what I have to get one. Plus the PCLs kill it for me.

I think the correct answer for the Datejust is the jubilee, and it’s not really close.
Only if the clasp has micro adjust. Brackets without easy adjustments are worthless.

Yes, but do they pack the same number of non-sequitors, asides, and entirely unrelated information into such a short thread? I think not.

It's too bad Tudor won't make a modern 40mm dive watch that is 11mm thick like the old Hydronaut.

there's a part of me that would love to get the old Zenith Rainbow Elite, a 9mm thick diver. perfect "under the cuff" dress diver.

Eterna made a Kontiki that was very similar to the Elite Rainbow diver and they are much less on the used market.

BB58 is 11.9mm, close.

Anyone have an AD recommendation? (in case I really want whatever they release, I like to be prepared) My local place kept passing me over for the BB58, so if this is a popular watch, I don't have high hopes of being able to buy locally. I thought Timeless was a Tudor AD, but they no longer list Tudor on their site.

I bought one from Timeless, but it was like 2 years ago.

Exactly. I mean, I had bought an IWC from them within the last 10 years, so I'd have thought I'd be at the top of their list.

Seriously though, I don't mind waiting, but this particular place kept telling me the next one was mine, and after several months of that I finally bought one slightly used.
