Personally not a fan of a cyclops on any watch, but my comment was primarily directed towards their dive watches, especially the ones that have both day & date.

The black alpinist is the best explorer alternative going even with the cyclops. I was really impressed by that watch.toxicavenger wrote: ↑Wed Feb 03, 2021 8:38 pmsoooooooo I agree. that is until I got the newer alpinist. on the alpinist it works great.

I really think I should have kept mine even though it wore too big, but the parts of the Sumo that seem elegant and classy are completely ruined by the PADI treatment. For something that looks so good on the NAFT seems to have completely ruined any modesty the Sumo had.AtomicTom wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 11:23 amThinking a lot of you guys may have seen these. But just saw them over
at OceanicTime.
These brand new Prospex Special Edition PADIs come in your choice of Solar
Chronograph or automatic. With 44.5mm, and 45mm stainless steel cases,
200m WR, sapphire crystals, sporty pepsi bezels, black dials with Lumibrite
coated hands, and markers, stainless steel bracelets, and Seiko V192, or
6R35 movements.
OceanicTime, and Seiko with even more for you...

On reading what I just wrote that seems really harsh and I’m still posting it because I feel it is accurate. Oh and since the newer sapphire model has came out the new hands, while only slightly different that the original ones suck and now it costs double what it used to. Meh.
Being in PADI mode does change up the look of the Sumo, that's for sure Heath.
The Sumo had this controlled aggression way about it originally, but then the
more changes they make, it begins going off the rails right?! Honestly, don't
think you are being harsh, just honest !

And Art, it is tough keeping up isn't it?!

what after a while. And there's not even a watch show happening, or anything.

Oh well, they are at least fun to talk about. Thank you guys !!!

Owned the 007 and 017 a couple times each and have never made them stick. My heart just cannot get attached to an inverse bezel as much as I think I like them. Looks great, though! Glad the old hands have come back.
I'm guessing there's a dark bezel version like the 015... Anyone know that reference is if it exists?
My current Tuna is a ref. S23626 Love it.

That's a shit thing to do to people like me who own the blue LE, but at least that means I'll possibly be able to pick up a couple blue rubber straps for when mine dies.wrote: Blue

Blue was never LE. It was “limited market” per Seiko. I owned one a while back and enjoyed it but such is life I flip every damn thing.JP Chestnut wrote:That's a shit thing to do to people like me who own the blue LE, but at least that means I'll possibly be able to pick up a couple blue rubber straps for when mine dies.wrote: Blue

Re: New Seiko Thread
Just heard from our local AD that he has the SPB147 back in stock, if anyone is looking for this at a BoD discount.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I really want the black bezel variant, but I’m not thrilled with the new pricing. I almost bought the last blue version but never pulled the trigger. I just didn’t love the arrow hands of the last model.
Re: New Seiko Thread
These seem larger models, also the crown position is back below 4 o'clock...

I don’t know what is up with that last one. Looks larger and date isn’t in the right spot for either a Willard or NAFT.

Zoom in on the dial. Pretty sure it says 8L35.
Edit: Definitely visible on case back.

Or, how to spend $4K on something that looks like a bunch of watches that cost $1K.Honeybadger wrote:Zoom in on the dial. Pretty sure it says 8L35.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Don't suppose anyone knows if that is a new bracelet, or still the same one from the sbbn33?
Re: New Seiko Thread
Looks the same to me. The bracelets are my only issues with the newest 300M Tuna line. The SBBN015 Tuna had one of the best bracelets that Seiko has put on a dive watch. Regardless, Tuna's are great strap/NATO watches.

It has something to do with the ISO Dive watch standard. Apparently there must be lume at the 3 position. The new Marine Masters & Tunas have that tiny lume plot cut into the chapter ring at 3.... On the new Willard, I think Seiko could have done a better job with the plain date window. At least give it a nice beveled boarder.Chocodove wrote:I don’t know what is up with that last one. Interesting. So does a watch like the Pelagos meet the ISO specs because of the lumed bezel?spring-diver wrote:It has something to do with the ISO Dive watch standard. Re: New Seiko Thread
Possibly, but Rolex has historically never claimed that their watches meet ISO 6425 and they have never cared. They make up their own standard. Sinn and I'm sure others do the same.Honeybadger wrote: ↑Tue Feb 23, 2021 5:54 pmInteresting.
