I’m fairly certain a white Shogun is just another name for cultural appropriation, so I can’t support this.

This was posted on Facebook today. The blue dial looks great.

This sure looks like Seiko is getting more of my money.

Just got my SRPE07 Great White today. First Seiko for me. I was a little worried after reading peoples issues with bezel alignment but this thing is spot on. The dial is just stunning in the sunlight! Feels a little small but I have been wearing an Autozilla on a massive bracelet daily for years so, yeah, it's a bit different.

I'm happy I took a chance on Seiko- I did not expect disappointment from an iconic watch company and I was not.

The price was so good I could not pass it up... I got it from Macy's for 380.00 on a Black Friday sale.

Did you guys see this this new Seiko by chance?

The 140th Anniversary Limited Edition King Seiko KSK Re-Creation has a 38.1mm
stainless steel case, 50M WR, box style sapphire crystal, a sunray silver dial with
applied indexes and hands, cool crocodile strap, and the Calibre 6L35 too.

Here is a look...

At that price it’s a F150 with a 4 cylinder engine. It’s basically a GS shell.

Seiko is trying really hard to sell a merely ok movement for a premium. This should have at least an 8L35 for this price.

That King Seiko looks nice, but I agree it seems pricey. You can get some (quartz) grand seikos for right around the same amount, and even some mechanicals and autos in the same style as this one are within reach at that price (less than $1,000 more new).

The 6L35 is completely different than the 6R15 and 6R35.

Yeah, these were introduced for the Presage line a couple of years ago and are pretty solid. High beat, 50 hour power reserve and 2mm thinner than the 6R. Also more accurate out of the box and I think the shock protection is improved. I think this was supposed to be more comparable to the ETA 2892.

I agree. If I were just getting into watches now, I probably wouldn't be buying Seiko.

I think their main problem is that they're inconsistent. Some good deals in the prospex line, some (relatively) good deals in the GS line, but there are also quite a few watches priced wayyy too high even when compared to cohorts within their own brand.

It looks great but I would’ve also preferred at least an 8L35 for that money. Automatic GSs are not that much more expensive.

Is the 8L35 superior to the 6L35? I don't know much about the 6L35.

"Superior" is subjective, I guess. But the 6L35 is not a Grand Seiko movement, while the 8L35 is essentially the base for the GS 9S55 and 9S65 movements, and is found in just a few top-end Seikos (and the MM300, which is part of why I find that watch amazing). I would subjectively place the 8L35 above the 6L35 (which I would in turn place a tier above the the 6R movements). That said, based on specs alone, they are very similar, and the 6L is a thinner movement than the 8L.

I was pretty excited about the SBDC127, and Seiya now has it on his site. Unfortunately, I also saw this in his description.
The chapter ring and index & bezel index and face index not being aligned perfectly.
For a $1200 Seiko, that is just embarrassing.

He has that for pretty much every Seiko, all the way up to the MM300.

I see that now, even on the SBDX039 @ $4600. Perhaps just his disclaimer then.

Was it Gnomon where some here were able to have them verify alignment of everything?

Very cool! How are you liking it? I'm going to grab the blue dial one next year.

I’m gonna get One I think but from my AD as I want to be sure it’s all aligned.

There’s no chapter ring, which is the main alignment issue with Seiko. The only thing to worry about is the bezel insert.
