Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
I will have one.
Lists are already crazy. Maybe as long as subs/gmts....or longer.

I bought a cheap watch from a crazy man
Floating down canal
It doesn't use numbers or moving hands
It always just says now
Now you may be thinking that I was had
But this watch is never wrong

So here's a real sale, a Sotheby's auction result:logan2z wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 2:39 pmCan anyone point me to any sold watches at that price? I searched sold listings on eBay and came up empty. None of the other internet listings in the $40K range are marked 'sold'.
'listed at' is not the same as 'selling for'.

The watch sold for $23K, not quite the $40K that some sellers are hoping to get.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
If I had the cash I’d buy one for my father who actually was awarded the “Silver Snoopy” from NASA. He’s not a watch guy, but earning that award was the highlight of his career.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster
I can’t, and there aren’t many out there to be sure. But the last one I saw listed was on Watchbox. Their pricing can be aggressive, but it’s not ridiculous when compared to the market. OTOH, it’s still listed, so who knows?logan2z wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 2:39 pmCan anyone point me to any sold watches at that price? I searched sold listings on eBay and came up empty. Re: Omega's Speedmaster
Right, the market seems to have spoken and said 'no' to a $40K Speedmaster reissue.JBZ wrote: ↑Mon Oct 05, 2020 5:46 pmI can’t, and there aren’t many out there to be sure. I like this. Like the Apollo 8, I’ll get one eventually.

Really like this one. The Speedmaster for me had always been one of those 'ought to get' watches because its heritage, which in this instance is fully justified.
But this version looks stunning. The blue against the silver dial, loaded with technical and cool features and non-limited.
It's a winner in every respect

Dial - nice. Case back with animated Apollo capsule - hokey. Price - ridiculous.

the prices are ridiculous. Anyone care to buy my 2014 Hulk for $19,000 so I can save up for this one? it's a good deal.

That price gets a "stupid sh#t" award

Wishful thinking. Check back in a few months and see if it's still for sale. I suspect it will be.
Even the previous Silver Snoopy - arguably a more desirable watch - isn't selling at those prices. I've found some that have gone for about $20K, but not much more.
Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
Yep. Asking != market price, especially for a piece with unconfirmed availability velocity. That’s why I’m holding off for this and didn’t rush to my AD to get on the list.logan2z wrote:Wishful thinking. Check back in a few months and see if it's still for sale. I suspect it will be.

Desirable watches are very expensive these days.

Lol - I come from a Java background. Although these days 12 year old kids can out-code me and have a better grasp of current web service technologies.

Pretty common across many programming languages, including Python, C/C++, Java, Javascript etc.
Ok, enough computer nerd stuff, back to watches

Re: Omega's Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary
The price of modern LE Speedmasters is something I just cannot wrap my head around.
3689.30.31 can be had for <$10k if you're patient, has blued hands, a white dial, no bracelet, a nifty eye-looking moon complication, and made of 18kt white gold.
