New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
I can’t even purchase a existing model at the AD. Been waiting for years on the waiting list. I can’t get too excited about products that I will never be able to find in stock.

Borrowed from TRF. Too funny not to share!

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
It's like a panerai new release. "Hey guys, we changed a color"
Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
41mm and slimmer lugs would be a giant improvement on a 5x6 current sub. I hope it’s true
Edit: also Hulk is getting discontinued. I don’t like the watch but if I had it I’d hold on to it to resell at 2X

I’d sell my kids for this! Well, not my kids. But kids for sure.

Ha yep, they're all pissing on each others suede shoes in the gents over at TRF in excited anticipation...

Picked up on TRF. Reference 126610 41mm black dial Sub Date with black or green ceramic bezel.

I mean.... it looks like every other Rolex release - predictable.TSD wrote:Picked up on TRF. Reference 126610 41mm black dial Sub Date with black or green ceramic bezel.
(the one recent exception being the skydweller)

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
Updated movement with 70HR PR and better proportions with slimmer lugs and 41mm. I couldn’t ask for more and what I’ve been basically hoping for. In for No Date version
Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
While the no-dates I have do fit me fine, a little larger and with more tapered lugs will be that much better. I’m likely in for a no-date too, but the green ceramic bezel / black dial could make me rethink the damned cyclops.Panerai7 wrote:Updated movement with 70HR PR and better proportions with slimmer lugs and 41mm. True, depending on the shade of green. I’m not a fan of Hulk kinda green.hoppyjr wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2020 10:09 amWhile the no-dates I have do fit me fine, a little larger and with more tapered lugs will be that much better. Even if the same green, it might look better with black dial. I’m hoping for dark green.Panerai7 wrote:True, depending on the shade of green. It'll make a great 65th birthday present for you

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
How do those lugs look. Are they slimmed down?
Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
Well, yes, aside from all that.

An update to the 3235 was kinda due, and the slimmed lugs treatment like the GMT makes sense. Hopefully they've worked the bugs out of that movement by now. There've been a lot of balance wheel issues with Sky Ds and SD43s, mine included.
Appear to be slimmed down like the GMT, especially compared to a maxi case.
Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
I still see nothing improved over the 116600 which they inexplicably discontinued in favor of the fat and shiny SD with a cyclops.
So if this is what folks wanted, they had already made this watch years ago.
I wish Rolex would flex their size and infrastructure and produce something actually innovative or interesting rather than resting on the laurels of simply mastering market manipulation.

(And a 70-hr PR is nothing to write home about in 2020. Even little brother Tudor has been shipping that standard for years.)

....not to mention Certina and Seiko.matt.wu wrote:(And a 70-hr PR is nothing to write home about in 2020. Even little brother Tudor has been shipping that standard for years.)

Interesting on the movement bugs, I wasn’t aware. With the Tudor movement bugs it does make one wonder what’s going on. I don’t recall issues with prior Rolex & Tudor motors.TSD wrote:Well, yes, aside from all that.![]()

And don’t get me wrong. I may own one eventually, but it’s really nothing to get excited about.

Re: New Submariner announcement Sept 1st?
Does power reserve reallly even matter or is it just a marketing thing?
Do you really care if it’s 40 or 70 hours? To me, unless it’s 7-10 days, who really cares.
I said the same thing with the excitement around the panerai 372 when the big deal was made of three day movement.
Unless you have a power reserve, who really knows.
I wind manual watches every day regardless of power reserve.
Does it really matter for auto?
It really is just a hype thing to me.
