Seaborne's Sea Venture

Post by AtomicTom » Mon Aug 10, 2020 10:43 am

Did you guys ever hear of Seaborne? Or see their Sea Venture by chance?

The Massachusetts based company looks to have four versions of the
Sea Venture. Including "The Original" with black dial, Ocean Blue bezel,
and orange inner ring. The "Sunrise Bezel" model with it's black dial,
Sunrise Orange bezel, and blue inner ring. Followed by Sunrise Orange
dial version with Ocean Blue bezel, and black inner ring, and then the
"Tactical Edition" with it's cool matte black PVD finish, black dial, and
black bezel.

All the watches have 41mm stainless steel cases, 100M WR, sapphire
crystals, 120 click uni-directional bezels with K1 hardened crystals, as
well as SLN BGW9 coated hands, and markers. Then you have Seiko's
NH35a automatic, plus silicone, and Nato straps also.

Some pictures for you...

Quite like these. The crown guards look good, vintage but the whole watch doesn't succumb to all the vintage cue's so often put together these days.
The bezel/ dial colour combos look good without throwing odd colours in just to be different but if you are gonna make a decent looking dive watch,is just 100m rating a bit well, shallow?

Or are we now so used to the micro specs being at least 300m that this feels like a cut in what we are used to? And let's be honest, how many will get to dive that deep?

Not bad, Tom; orange dial version looks sharp in the group shot.

Am totally with you on these Jeremy, and Matt !! :salute: :salute:

These give you this fantastic vintage feel without looking like a vintage
re-issue of some kind. Taking an overall terrific feel from the past, and
modernizing in subtle ways. Between all of the dial, and bezel combos,
it's like being a watch kid in a watch candy store. :) Although that orange
is mesmerizing, you're right Matt, and yeah, think you are right on with
the 100 meter water resistance Jeremy. Actually don't think I have
gone 10 meters under water with a watch.

So happy you guys liked these. Thanks so much for your thoughts !!

Seaborne's Sea Venture

Anything under 200m WR makes me paranoid of crystal fogginess. So they saved a few bucks making them 100m and going with mineral crystal bezel insert instead of sapphire. Big turn off. Thanks for sharing though. Nice eye candy.

Thanks for posting and the kind words!

Feel free to ask any question, I'm the designer and owner of Seaborne Trading Co. Every watch we sell gives 5% back to coastal community orgs -- something I'm pretty proud of and looking to grow.

The Sea Venture is a nod to vintage watches that I have collected over the years and I'm glad that comes across well. The Orange dial (Sunrise) and the Orange bezel (Sunset) are our top-sellers we get a lot of consistently positive feedback from our buyers. It's been fun to hear how much people love the colors and comments they get.

We did not have a goal to make a hardcore diver -- there are plenty out there that are amazing. I know that the 100M turns some people off but the reality is the vast majority of watch wearers don't wear them in or under water and we've tested these to the 100M requirement so if anyone does wear it they shouldn't run into any issues (as long as the crown is screwed down, of course). That said, we can't please everyone, and I always appreciate any feedback -- positive or negative!

Any forum members also can use Sea35 to get $35 off (with free domestic shipping).

Thanks -- Brian Costello

And thank YOU for taking the time to join DWC, and of course for making these
incredibly cool watches Brian ! :salute: :headbang: 8-) You can see the terrific vintage
connection to the Sea Venture around every turn actually. Love just the bezels,
and dials, but then the cases, and NATO's are the perfect vintage icing on the
classic cake.  They're like the modern descendants we would expect
to see from all of those cool watch brands that aren't around any more. It's just
phenomenal !!! :)

Thank you very much once again, and continued good luck to you !
