Oh thank God. I loved this style. I’ll even deal with the X. I wanted an SBBN015 which my dumb ass has sold twice, but they’re hard to come by. If they keep the super dome, but in sapphire this time I won’t be able to say no.jswing wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 12:09 pmLove that they're going back to old school. Looks like they’ve jumped high too. Around $1,500 from the pre-orders. Nuts.spring-diver wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 10:59 amFor those interested in the JDM Tunas, release date is August 8.

first world problems as they say, but maybe after the next sell-off I can find a used one.

Maybe the solar tuna was that cheap, but these were about a grand (IIRC) new and sold used for $700-850.Panerai7 wrote:Is that still Quartz? The draw to this one is the more original dial & hand design, plus sapphire crystal standard (vs Hardlex). I think a MSRP of $1195 and street price of $1k would be ideal, but these will likely be about $1200-1275 street price - and I’m sure they’ll sell.

I guess it’s been a minute since I’ve priced one. I remember they were a lot less with higuchi. Shit time flies it must have been over 10 years ago

Re: New Seiko Thread
At one time before the bracelet model existed and before the dial changed they could be had for less than $500. That was probably more than 10 years now. I’m realizing as much as I love watches I’m just cheap ass these days.Panerai7 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 7:28 amGotchahoppyjr wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 7:26 amMaybe the solar tuna was that cheap, but these were about a grand (IIRC) new and sold used for $700-850.Panerai7 wrote:Is that still Quartz? Re: New Seiko Thread
I just got mine, and it's really well done, much nicer in person than any picture I'll manage to post. It feels gigantic to me right now, but that's because I've been rotating two 39mm watches. Will have to see if I get used to it. If I hadn't bought it directly from an AD I'd suspect it was not a real Seiko, because everything lines up perfectly. The bezel action is better than any Seiko I've had before, including higher end LEs. The beveled crystal is sweet, they got that just right, if I remember right it's just like my old 6105. I think Seiko really got this one right. The only thing missing for me is a date window surround, but I guess they have to hold something back from the much more expensive LE.

Best bet for Sbbn007, 017, 015 Is to post a WTB here and sit on it for awhile. A good deal will come around eventually. I got my final sbbn007 from a dwcer this year for around $600.
The 7C46 quartz movement is only non HEQ quartz id be willing to spend $1500 and have. I’ve only had great experiences with that movement. Even decades old tunas with the movement that didn’t need anything but battery swap.

I bought my 015 Tuna from Shopping Japan in 2012 for $1200. That was a good price then. I remember the exchange rate going up and down quite a bit and I finally jumped.Panerai7 wrote:Is that still Quartz? Nope. Still have it. Needs refinished badly. So does the shroud. It’s all pretty beat but still looks good to me.sierra11b wrote:You sell the bracelet?BBK357 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 6:11 pmI bought my 015 Tuna from Shopping Japan in 2012 for $1200. Re: New Seiko Thread
This is exactly why I should have kept mine. I did have the later Diashield one and while it reduced scratches, it was not scratch proof. When I like a watch regardless of price they really get used. I recently put a small dent in my NAFT and if it’s a coating that can crack, it would’ve definitely split then.BBK357 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 23, 2020 10:38 pmNope. Still have it. Needs refinished badly. Re: New Seiko Thread

Review time:
Bracelet is substantial. Heft of it reminds me of the SBBN015s. On the wrist it wears like a cross between an SBGA029 and NAFT. It certainly has some heft overall and with one link removed it's 178grams on MM300 clasp. It's comfortable.
It's running at +5sec a day which is exactly what my 6R35 SBP117 Alpinist is running.

I put it on a MM300 clasp but showed the OEM clasp in the last picture. As you can see it looks more refined than the old stamped MM300 clasp, which shows what this watch is all about. Is it worth $1300? Not sure. But at <$1000 it's a no-brainer.
Bezel action is impressive. Never felt a Seiko with a bezel action like this... It's like MM300 if it were rubbing against a rubber o-ring... Maybe more like the Sd4K with a little more resistance.
If you get the watch in direct light the indices have a very faint cream hue to them. Can't remember if that was the case with the cushion-lumed indices of the NAFt before I had it force-patina
Overall happy!
