William Wood's Valiant Collection

Post by AtomicTom » Fri Apr 24, 2020 10:02 am

Not sure if everyone had time to see the Valiant Collection from a watch
company named William Wood recently.

The watches honor the founders late grandfather. Who for 25 years
had bravely served in the British Fire Service.

Just some of the specifications include a 41mm stainless steel case,
100 meter WR, AR coated double domed sapphire crystal, diver's
bezels with SLN 12 o'clock dot, 1920's British brass firefighters helmet
insert crown, and logo, nice dials with British fire engine checker
markings, rank marking 12 o'clock marker, bell chime seconds hand
counter weight, and SLN coated hands, and markers. Plus fire hose
rubber, cool NATO straps, and Swiss ETA 2824, or Japanese Seiko NH35
movement choice also.

Here is a look...

I actually rather like these. Although a rather generic design, it's all in the detail and this seems to be well thought out and, at least for the brand, have brought some meaning in to design and components.
I like the use of old fire hoses for the strap. I think the red bezel version works best.

I see all sorts of good marketing slogans...

“Give us a little money and we’ll give you Wood.”

“Would you? William Wood.”

“Got Wood yet?”

I was hoping to see a bunch of old Plymouth’s. At least those would’ve been a bit more interesting.

My thoughts mirror Jeremy’s. Nothing new in the design, yet the look is pleasing. The dial color /strap color pairings are great. The silver dial with OD strap, and especially the blue / yellow combo. Other brands have done much worse. Doesn’t give me wood, but overall a very nice offering.

Nice looking watches. but not a fan of the fire helmet logo.

 Guess, I am in the minority, but thought these were very cool ! 8-)
They have the traditional dive feel down, but then really never have
seen too many watches paying tribute to fire fighters. Just thought it,
and they were nice, and something we never see guys.

Really appreciate you guys chiming in, and giving your thoughts !
