Hope those same brushed hands are used on the SPB151J1
40.5mm x 13.15mm thick. Australian price of around 2Gs. Anyone know the prices in dollars? I like that a lot.

I just browsed through this thread for the first time in a few months, and there are 4 or 5 I really want...

Re: New Seiko Thread
I love the look of this one, and the dimensions, could be my first Seiko. Little confused, I can't find this exact one (SPB149J1 - blueish dial w/o a gold second hand). This does not appear to have a gold second hand (unless it's lighting).

Here's 3 of them, and it shows (as do many other pics) with a gold second hand on the 149 (not a fan of gold anything, but I might be able to get past that).
The SPB145J1 looks like it (w/o gold second hand), but with a grey dial. Both look great, would be a hard choice, that blueish one is probably the hottest, but the grey 145 is growing on me and looks a bit more retro.

Edit - I missed the forth one - the SPB143J1 looks like the grey one I like the best, not the 145 - though the 149 is pretty hot also - tough choice:

Apparently, the photographer took some liberties with the colors when he edited those photos. That’s why the seconds hand is the wrong color.raf42 wrote:I love the look of this one, and the dimensions, could be my first Seiko. Re: New Seiko Thread
What model is this one? I'm confused by all of the similar Seiko divers out there and can't seem to nail down models. This one looks fantastic.matt.wu wrote: ↑Sat Jun 08, 2019 10:04 amI think he just means the whining. I’m ok with that, but those threads are boring as hell to me, with no commentary what’s the point?
The difference between here and WUS is in the number and quality of people.
I personally like the larger MM divers! All except the SBEX001 monstrosity!

Re: New Seiko Thread
What color is the dial on the 145? I'm color blind, and I can't tell the difference between the 143 and 145. I think the gray one is the one I want. Minor complaint, but I do wish Seiko would offer each dial option with a rubber strap option. Seems like my preferred dial never matches up with my preferred strap option. But that's easily remedied.CGSshorty wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:18 amApparently, the photographer took some liberties with the colors when he edited those photos. Looks like the 143 has a greyish sunburst dial and greenish lume while the 145 has a brownish sunburst dial and faux patina lume. 143 for me all day between those two.
149 blue dial and gold(?) second hand (though it looks orange in the pic). Color accuracy is hard, needs a hands on account.

Re: New Seiko Thread
My main concern about all of these new watches is the price. RRPs over $1K mean used/actual prices well above $600. At a certain point, these watches don't fit in anywhere for me, as they are too expensive to be the Seiko dive watch beater I want them to be, but not quite good enough to compete with a huge range of mid-range divers. Makes me really think the sub-$300 Seiko divers are the sweet spot.
Re: New Seiko Thread
My problem in pulling the trigger on a Seiko is finding one I like that's not 44/45mm and not a super expensive reissue.
At around 40mm/13mm these are good looking and a much better size for me. But I agree, they fall in a intermediary price range. Having sapphire, and hardening helps a bit. I'd be willing to pay a bit of a premium just for the dimensions (plus I like the look).

Most Seiko’s wear pretty small for their size unless you are talking about the gargantuan spring drive divers, etc.raf42 wrote:My problem in pulling the trigger on a Seiko is finding one I like that's not 44/45mm and not a super expensive reissue.

The MM200 for example is the absolute smallest wearing 44x51mm watch in existence IMO.

I'm sure you are right. I've just been trending towards a bit smaller in my tastes and like the look of these and the non arrow hour hand (personal preference). I thought about an MM200 many times, they do look great.Chocodove wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 7:11 amMost Seiko’s wear pretty small for their size unless you are talking about the gargantuan spring drive divers, etc.raf42 wrote:My problem in pulling the trigger on a Seiko is finding one I like that's not 44/45mm and not a super expensive reissue.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Thanks! Those pics are good, I can actually see the brown dial now. Definitely the gray for me. I like the blue also, except for the yellow/gold/orange second hand.raf42 wrote:I don't know shit about Seiko like many here do.....jswing wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2020 4:33 amWhat color is the dial on the 145? Re: New Seiko Thread
That's for sure. My preferred size is around 40x48, and I'd have never bought one had I not tried on Dave Ts first. It does wear very well, and much smaller than the specs suggest.Chocodove wrote:Most Seiko’s wear pretty small for their size unless you are talking about the gargantuan spring drive divers, etc.raf42 wrote:My problem in pulling the trigger on a Seiko is finding one I like that's not 44/45mm and not a super expensive reissue.

I ask think seiko has upped their game quality wise in this range. Sapphire, a better bracelet and overall better feel make the mm200 feel like great value to me.

Same here. Where does jumping out of a perfectly good airplane get fun? Parachute=single point failure=lawn dart.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Amazing photo!
But I agree about heights. Even in video games where you are up against some type of cliff and about to fall, I can feel the pain shooting up my legs through the rest of my body. I likely died in a past life falling off something, or got eaten by large bugs
