Trouble staying logged in?
Trouble staying logged in?
Anyone else having difficulty staying logged in?
Using Android, Google,
Got a new phone just over a month ago.
When I pull up my bookmark to DWC unread posts it kicks me to the login in screen.
My username and password are stored and the box to keep me logged in is checked.
I just click the login button and it takes me back to the correct page.
As I browse the site, it will randomly kick me back out to the login screen.
Any ideas?

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
I was experiencing the same trouble, but disabling the midget porn site corrected everything.

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
Yes. Both on my work pc and my phone. It’s super irritating.
Re: Trouble staying logged in?
A guy really shouldn’t have to disable his favorite website to browse a forum.1954Selmer wrote:I was experiencing the same trouble, but disabling the midget porn site corrected everything.
As for staying “logged in” try to think about baseball.

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
I’ve found that happening when on travel and I suspect it’s an interruption in connectivity on your end. When I’m at home on WiFi it never happens.

So you’re saying you’ve whitelisted the midget porn site on your home network? Good idea. That is a tactical approach!deepcdvr wrote:I’ve found that happening when on travel and I suspect it’s an interruption in connectivity on your end. When I’m at home on WiFi it never happens.
Re: Trouble staying logged in?
it happens to me all the time. especially when i do things like mark all read or try to access controlled boards (RR/sales). doesn't matter whether i'm mobile or on wifi at home/work. chrome on win/10.

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
I think it’s tabbed browsing. I get logged out of the new tab.

Thanks! I needed that response today.1954Selmer wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 2:45 pmI was experiencing the same trouble, but disabling the midget porn site corrected everything.

It never really happened on my old phone and really only started on this phone this week. But now I often can't go through 3 or 4 posts without it logging me out, sometimes even one click...
It's really cutting into my monkey porn time...

No problems here. Don't think it has anything to do with tabbed browsing, I browse DWC from multiple tabs all the time and never lose my login session. I sometimes get logged out when I switch networks, but that doesn't happen frequently/consistently.
I don't think there's any issue with the forum...

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
It happens almost 100% of the time I open a new tab on my work pc using Microsoft edge and 0% of the time on my home Mac. It’s definitely related to the new tab not remembering the log in.logan2z wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 6:19 pmNo problems here. Could be an Edge 'feature'. I don't use Windows.JP Chestnut wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 6:25 pmIt happens almost 100% of the time I open a new tab on my work pc using Microsoft edge and 0% of the time on my home Mac. It sucks ass. That machine has dual xenon chips and a million gigs of ram and it's still not fast.logan2z wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 7:04 pmCould be an Edge 'feature'. Re: Trouble staying logged in?
i don't use edge, i use chrome. and i always view DWC in the same tab, no new tabs.
this is the only forum i have this problem with (including other phpBB forums).
don't know what the difference is. who knows, maybe some extension i use doesn't play nicely with some setting here?

Re: Trouble staying logged in?
Could be, although there's nothing special about the way the forum handles sessions. But you could try systematically disabling extensions and see if that changes anything.gwells wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2019 7:51 pmi don't use edge, i use chrome. and i always view DWC in the same tab, no new tabs.

FWIW I use Chrome on a variety of Macs and my Pixel 2 and am almost never logged out.
Re: Trouble staying logged in?
Combo of chrome and Tapatalk for me amongst iPhone, Mac, and Windows PC. I get logged out once every few months or so at most...

We’ll keep trying to narrow it down.

I use Safari. Pretty much have to login every time I visit. Hell I have stopped posting bc if it.
Ironically when I went to post this it made me log in although I had already. So... yes.

Was that wrong? Should I not have done that?

I tried to look up a user to send a PM, which opens a pop up window... which I needed to log in to.DrWapenshaw wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:40 amI use Safari. Pretty much have to login every time I visit. Hell I have stopped posting bc if it.

I never use Safari but I just tried it and didn't have any issue staying logged in. Two things to look at:DrWapenshaw wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 11:40 amI use Safari. Pretty much have to login every time I visit. Hell I have stopped posting bc if it.

1) Are you checking the 'Remember Me' checkbox on the DWC login screen?
2) Is your browser configured to allow site cookies to be set? Go to Safari's Preferences > Privacy panel and make sure you have 'Allow from websites I visit' selected in the 'Cookies and website data' section.

I don't know about cookies, but "remember me" doesn't do anything.

It does, it remembers meJP Chestnut wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2019 12:34 pmI don't know about cookies, but "remember me" doesn't do anything.

Checking the 'Remember Me' box sets a long-lasting session cookie in the browser that will allow you to stay logged in across visits. If you have cookies disabled then the browser won't save that cookie and you'll be forced to log in frequently.
The 'Remember Me' feature works on every browser I've used to visit DWC.
Re: Trouble staying logged in?
i've definitely kept "remember me" checked every time i log in. and it's definitely saving cookies.
sometimes i'll go days w/o issues. then suddenly it'll happen constantly all day. once, every time i tried to reply to a post in RR, it logged me out when i hit submit. to the point that the third time, i remembered to copy my post so i didn't have to retype it all again. i think it took me 10 tries to get it to post w/o logging me out.
it's really random when it happens. the most common things I can think of are that it happens more often when replying (but not only then) and more often in RR (but not only there).
