For Dive Watch Fans...

As many of you know, I'm a fan of the micro-brand 'The Detroit Watch Company.'

The owner, Patrick Ayoub, sent me a picture of his new Dive Watch last night which is
also a GMT.

I don't have details yet, but as soon as I do I'll be sure to post them.

Preliminary Specs: Not etched in stone.

It’s 43mm. Eta 2892A2 for the 3 hand and Eta 2893-2 for
the GMT version.

Prices not yet set but will be from $1350-1495. (Aprox)

I hope they enlarge the text on the lower half of the dial. My old eyes can’t read any of it easily.

Yowza, those are gorgeous Kurt !!!

The whole style is spectacular really,
and mixes the nicest style of markings, markers, and numbers. Even those hands
are a little different, and rock ..Thanks very much for the insanely cool heads
up !

Holy crap I didn't even notice that there was text on the lower half. My eyes got stuck on the second hand "D" and big hour hand.

I will give my two cents.

1. Make the minute hand a little longer and those what do you call it stick at the end of the hand a little shorter.
2. Get rid of the ugly helium relief valve screw down crown.
3. Put the markers all the way around the bezel for uniformed look.
4. Make the indices bigger because it is going to be a dive watch.

I like it but agree that everyone hates the SMP helium relief crown, so why keep it on a homage when you have the option of improving

Looks good overall and looks just like a Muhle to me. Little details like some of the font and font size or even the fancy D on the second hand seem off to me but not horrible.

Why take the two worst things from a Seamaster, He crown and the scalloped bezel, and use them again on another watch?

Clip the pointer off the hour hand and extend the minute hand some.

Not a fan of the logo overload, ditch either the fleur de lis, or the 1701. Or both. If the manufacturer is Detroit Watch Company, why does it say "Ponchartrain" on the dial? To quote Jean-Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg: "Be proud of who you are".

Just realized the dial has references to locations three different places.... Detroit, USA and Swiss, and yet the name appears French.

Exposed crown, 3/4 of the bezel unindexed, dial markings too small. Ain't no-one using that as a dive watch.

The name is a reference to Fort Pontchartrain which was established in 1701 and later renamed "Fort Detroit".

Interestingly, "Fort Detroit" is also the current name of every police substation in the city.

I like it a lot just as it is and would love to have the gmt version. All you guys have made valid points too, it looks like a lot of other watches rolled into one which can't be bad from a selling point of view. Would divers use it? I'm not a diver but I tend to think Carl is probably right but I look at many dive watches and think they are really for desk divers and why not, we buy what we like the look of on our wrist not how useful it will be in the murky depths.
