Those bezels are extremely rare and certain Speedy guys go nuts over them. It's got the dot over nine. I don't understand it, but then again there is a lot that I don't

Rare or not, I'm pretty sure I'd never spend $4200 on a bezel insert alone.

The dot over 90 thing is a little crazy. Many of those really early Speedies had the bezel changed at service.
Returning the watch to original condition can add a great deal of value to the watch. I have seen them go for about 3K.

It's all about condition, this one is mint. You can also say it reflects the going rate for a pre-moon Speedmaster; e.g. the price for a ref. 105.012 with or without DO90 would probably be close to the price for this bezel, earlier references even more.

Some people will try anything to get $$ off a deal.
A long time ago I sold a chrono hand (for an early Autavia). It was genuine NOS, and worth a lot of money.. but I sold it to a guy for fuck all, as he needed it - I was being charitable, I didn't need it, he did.

About 2 years later he contacted me about a watch I was selling, and wanted a hefty discount because he said the hand I'd sold him wasn't correct.
I knew this was bollocks, but apologised and asked for the hand back, and I would refund him fully. He declined, and went awol.
