62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Apparently Seiko is going to release a 62MAS-inspired watch this fall.

^^^It's been posted on both SCWF and WUS. This rumor is picking up steam and looks like it may be a reality.
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
Let's hope it happens and we don't miss the initial order. I'd be all over one of those.

From the forum link posted above, there was a comment that pricing is going to be in the neighborhood of $3k but with nothing confirmed, I would wait before selling everything off or going off about the price.

For 3k it better have a finished movement like a GS and actually be regulated. I don't think they will have many buyers at 3k like they would at 350-700.

I was guessing it'd be 1500-2000

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
I'd be in at MM300 pricing levels, but $3k is a bit of a stretch unless it's something really special.

They should put either a 4r36 or 6R15 and sell them to the masses, and throw in a misaligned chapter ring for true Seiko authenticity.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
If it ran the MM300 movement (6L35?) in the finished "b" variation and was regulated, I'd see it selling in the $1500-2000 range and still being successful.
That said, I'd prefer a lesser motor and sub-$1k price.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
The 62MAS design is cool, but I think a lot of the love for it comes from the fact that it was the first true Japanese dive watch. I loved the one I had, but it almost looked like a Datejust on the wrist. I find the 6105 and 6309 designs much more diver-like, and I suspect a 6105 redo would sell like hotcakes, just as the SRPNAFTs have.

A 6159 might pull me in at 3K

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
That looks really good. If it's smaller and thinner than the MM300 with an 8L35 in it.
only accurate watches are interesting
Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
My guess is 8L35 or a variant. 8l35 in the MM300 has 26 jewels and a white date wheel at 3'oclock. This says 26 jewels on the dial.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
This shows promise.
This is how it always leaks... some shitty catalog shot and then reality some months later. Seiko is combing the threads. I've been talking about a 6R15 62MAS for a couple years. Not sure if I'd be a buyer with the 8L35 as it will likely put it in the $2k range, and it'll be hard to out do the mm300 in looks, but it will be a hit regardless.
Might have to send an email to kobayashi to see what he's heard.
If that one photo is any indication of its real design it has the beveled-style mm300 hands.
I may have to make this one happen.

Re: 62MAS-Inspired Seiko Dive Watch
I was thinking it'd use the same mvt as MM300 and would be under 2k.
The MM 300 is a great watch but too tall and heavy for its size for many. This could be more wearable and with a more vintage vibe. Right up my alley
