That could be the definition of "one watch".

I did 20+ years with my first Tag diver, too. Could probably make this work with the Triple Six, just not yet.

I love the idea of it. I thought I could do it with my Explorer II Polar, but caved within 3 weeks. I had to stay off the forums to even go that long...but I think I just like the variety, so let the games begin again.

I ruled out doing this with a Rolex as work can be brutal in watches. I simply did not want to trash a 5K plus watch. The other candidates were a Seiko Darth or a Pelagos. Either one would have been equally up up for the challenge. I will still wear the Garmin as well on specific work gigs.

Same applies to watches.

I prefer having just one watch. (and a beater) No matter how many I have, I always wear one almost exclusively anyway, and I end up flipping the rest. I've spent far too much "trying" different watches, and at least for now I'm tired of it. I have two right now (SubC and SM300 MC) and am having a hard time deciding which one I prefer, but plan to get back to one once I decide.

I often think I was happier or at least more content with my watches when I was a one daily wearer watch guy.

Tag Aquaracer everyday
SKX weekends, boat, racing etc
Carrera Chrono evenings and going out
Vintage Rolex weddings and funerals.

Of late I look at my box and nothing moves me, the vintage Seikos and Rolexs will never leave but I feel the rest could be replaced with a diver for daily wear (sub, SMP, PO, Pelagos) and a chrono (Sinn, IWC or maybe a Longines).

With as many watches as I cycle through, I still have to say that my ultimate preference would be to get to one watch 99% of the time (with the G-shocks for the time's that call for a real beater).

This usually means it has to fit a few different criteria:

Robust
- This probably rules out dress watches and vintage watches, which though stated to be water resistant, are generally FAR inferior to today's sport watches

Versatile
- Specifically in style. It's got to do business meeting duty as well as basketball shorts time with the kids

Interesting
- I'll get bored with it if I see it on every other wrist. This is probably one that is a bit more subjective based on my taste. I know some folks would much prefer "classic" for a one-watch, but it won't work with a Rolex Sub for me. It's a little tricky to balance this one with versatility above.

Reasonable cost of ownership
- I don't mind, in consolidation, paying a bit more for a watch up front. But I sure as hell don't want to be paying another $5k every 5-10 years just to own it because it needs expensive service. And the service sure as hell better not take a year.

So I don't know that I've come across one that checks all the boxes for me yet. But believe me, I do still strive to be there. Maybe I will make it a goal for 2017. ;)

That's crazy stuff Nick.

Out of my current watch rotation, if I tried this it'd be with the Oris

I could do the CD1 as a only watch easily. But in all honesty if it had 22mm lugs it would be a given.

I could probably do the SDc all year if I had to. I wear it 90% of the time as it is.

^This, same here. BP & Paul's charity G-Shock. When I have more than two watches - especially two or more nice watches - I never switch them up. I wear one and then have a couple thousand dollars sitting in a box in my closet. So one watch works best for me.
