Picked this up last night from Bill. Condition is amazing, and the exotic dial is gorgeous  . Check out the pics:

It's a calibre 861, same as in the regular Speedmasters (until they switched to 1861).

That's the shit right there -- basically it's NOS, and that dial in person is amazing. Really, I have no idea how a totally original, unrestored watch from 1972 can look so freakin' perfect. And in spite of my pathological distaste for mesh, it's a perfect fit on this beauty.

Ol' Bill may drive a hard bargain, but that watch was totally worth it, IMO. And I must say that I'm especially glad to see this particular torch passed on to the "next generation" from Vic, to Bill, and now to you.

Adam

Congrats Dave. That is one rare bird in that condition.

A well made decision to acquire that watch.

I had the mesh before, but nothing to put it on. I tried it on my 3570.50, but I don't think it looked great. It works well with the hooded lugs of the Mark II.

What surprises me about the Omega MK II is that it has the 861 hand wind movement and the case is different than most speedmasters you see and they sell for a lot less and I think that's why I bought a MK II.It has every thing the higher price brother has but a different case and saves you a buck and I do like the case design.

Nice that you have an original caseback. The current replacements say "Seamaster".

Mine's one of the first, from 1969. Love it.
