I've heard similar stories from the Heuer world.. sure, many have made a lot of $ from the rising market, but the fun has gone - it's become a rich mans game, and the Heuer grails are pretty much unobtainable for the average guy now.

Not too many of them, I'm pretty quick to know if it's going to stay or not. The NDSubC I had for a month or so, and that's what I'm going back to. I had it while my DSSD was getting its bezel fixed and I loved everything about it. Would've kept it but needed to get the boy a 4Runner for high school, so off it went.

The Blancpain I've had for a few weeks now and I love it, it's just not for me. It's like having a Ferrari as a daily driver which - while that's awesome - isn't my life. I've got some side business things in the works and it's the only watch on my short list to buy after things get moving.

I think I flipped the EZM1 too soon and didn't give it a fair shake, mostly because it came right after wearing a DSSD for a couple years so the size and low weight threw me. I'm getting another so that answers that.

The Polar was just a sad realization of what you like may not be what you want. I love everything about it, just not for me.

The ezm1 is too small for your meat hook. Beat the crap out of it and sell it to me for cheap ;)

Got 2 at the start of year. Push my collection to 10 watches. A number which I am rather uncomfortable. Looking to cull eventually. However, I am looking to add a dress watch.

So yeah, like many I've slowed down too but that's a relative term for me - in 2015, I think the total buy/sell/trade transactions was less than 20 for the first time in probably 5-6yrs. I attribute that to a few things:

1) hit list is getting shorter - less "attainable" pieces coming out that push all the right buttons for me

2) tastes have been more refined last couple years - like many mentioned, I really know what I like and what has a better chance at making the "keeper" list - even though you all know me and not many are really "safe"

3) couple bad service experiences - between brand new pieces and vintage pieces and rising service costs, having a 15-20 watch collection can get expensive to maintain - last year I spent almost $2,500 on servicing watches

4) need for consolidation - I will probably continue the trend and try to get down to 6-8 "keeper/forever" type pieces with a couple affordable pieces I can still flip here and there to try new pieces in the sub $3k range

So, definitely seeing a theme through DWC and I'm in the same camp. With that being said, there are still a few I plan on adding this year incl a ceramic Daytona (deposit down for both black/white - gonna keep one/flip one) and a AP RO 15300 blue dial.

It's got quite a bit of life on it already, not sure there's much left I could do to it.

Funny thing is I been wearing the vintage glycine airman 24/7 lately it's just big enough were it don't look to small and has wrist presence and with a leather strap it's comfortable were some times you don't know it's on the wrist due to it's not a heavy watch. Not many in my collection I can say that about. And keeps OK time.

This is the stuff that makes me want to slow down my purchases. Granted I only have 6 watches, but something about service costs makes me wonder if I am going in the wrong direction.

I was shocked that the service on my Aqua Lung was "only" $540.

I'm equally concerned about choosing to send my EZM1 in to Sinn, not for cost so much, but for the fact that I hear they'll "confiscate" the 3H dial because of the tritium, and replace it with a service dial. Well that's not going to happen. I just haven't looked into alternatives for servicing, especially since it has the sulfate capsule and such.
