Long Island Watch - Very Impressed

Post by mattcantwin » Fri Jun 10, 2022 3:56 pm

I just bought my first watch from Long Island Watch.

I've been watching Marc's videos for a long time and hoped to eventually buy one of his watches.

Ordered a blue dial Southhold earlier this week.

I set the time and date yesterday and noticed this morning the date had not changed.

After checking things out I found the date changes fine with the stem, but does not change when hands pass midnight.

I wrote to Long Island Watch to explain the problem and asked what I should do.

Here is the response I got soon after:

HI Matt,

Thanks for reaching out and amazing photo of the Southold!

I just packed and shipped a new replacement watch along with a prepaid return label (USPS is picking it up this afternoon). When you receive the new watch and you are satisfied please ship back the defective watch using the provided label.

I must say, its awesome to see local Long Islanders wearing the Islander brand! It’s awesome!

Sorry about the issue!

If you have any other questions let us know.

Obviously, I'm not thrilled about the date change issue, but am very impressed with the response.

No further questions, new watch heading my way and prepaid label for return.

BTW, I like the watch.

As you said, hate to have the issue, but can’t handle it much better..

Yes, that is about the best way a vendor could handle an unfortunate situation. Good for them!

Marc's a smart guy and appears to have a very good thing going... tell him a former Islander wears his watches

I need to do a better job next time I take pictures.

Hard to see the blue at the center of the dial in this shot.

That Southhold looks great, especially with the blue strap.

I had a similar experience with Marc. I had bought an Orient Neptune that when I tried to set it, the stem broke off. After I contacted him, he immediately sent a new one with a return label for the broken one. I was very impressed.

The replacement Southhold just arrived.

It's set to the correct date; I'm guessing they checked this one before mailing it out.

I'll know for sure tomorrow.

That looks great on the strap, Matt.

I’d love to see him make a subdued version of this. Maybe a blasted case with matte black dial and bezel.

Marc is good people. Some years ago after I had bought a Vollmer mesh bracelet from LIW, he emailed me to ask my impressions of it. Just a personal communication, not an online review. How many vendors do that?
