Akura's Wayfarer

Post by AtomicTom » Thu Aug 01, 2019 8:17 am

Has anyone had time to see Akura's Wayfarer?

Based in Scotland, Akura's Wayfarer was inspired by the Highlands.

With details like a 41mm stainless steel case, 100m WR, a sapphire
crystal, and four dials in either gray, blue, black, or red. All with a
unique design, as well as nice Super-LumiNova BGW9 coated hands,
and markers.

In addition, it looks like you have both a bracelet, and leather strap,
and Miyota 9015 behind everything.

Some pictures guys...

The dial texture is very pronounced. Very different. I think I like it. Would make for a good change of pace. Hands are also unusual in a tiki-spear kind of way but I like them also.

I actually like it.

Hands don’t bother me.

The white speaks to me.

Has a classy look to it.

Not bad right guys?!! :) Kind of stands out without being too out there,
or strange. ..Giving you just the right amount of class, and sport in a unique
way.

It's something how each version separates itself with the dial choice too
right?! ..Have to agree with Lance, and how the white one really seems
to hit on all cylinders, and show off the design best.

Have to honestly thank all of YOU !

Not the worst micro I've seen.

Until I scrolled down to the AP bracelet. Phoned it in there.

Anonimo, Swatch, Mercer, and now Akura.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

At least we can pronounce it, unlike a lot of micros that choose the absolute worse names.

Never quite understood this stance.

Why is it we're okay with oysters, jubilees, presidents on a number of watches, but when someone copies the comfortable AP-style bracelet, on what is a head unlike any AP, we shun it?

Not on the attack here as very few micros appeal to me, and this one is no exception, but curious the psych behind it is all

Lol. I know that. My point was at least it’s a pronounceable name. When left to their own devices to come up with a name that hasn’t been used before, they usually don’t do that good or a job.

True enough. Although a pronounceable name spelled silly seems to be a reliable fall back position (I’m looking at you, BOLDR!)

1. It’s very distinct

2. I don’t like the other copies either. I’m pretty consistent.

I like the various details and levels of the dial. It’s original and interesting visually. I am not sure on the hands though. I think it’s one I’d have to see in the metal. Love the bracelet. Wish more brand le did them.
Merde Alors! Et Vive Les Francais! :)
