Seiko SKX009
Seiko SKX009
After seeing all these new Seiko releases i realize all i need is a Seiko SKX009. As a tool watch her weight and size are correct but most importantly the old school genuine Seiko bracelet wrap around wrist like a glove.
It would be my EDC like Robert Redford in All Is Lost.

As a daily beater, it works really well. Price, size, legibility all work well.

Yep, a SKX009 has been probably one of the most worn watches for me. Although I did tweak it with a domed sapphire and Stargate hands...

009 is indeed awesome. I have mine on a super chunky Strapcode Super Engineer 2 and it rocks.
Heavy but comfortable and ready for anything.
.... except maybe if I am covered in chocolate and thrown to some lesbians...

Re: Seiko SKX009
I’ve always thought the old SKX007/009 was one of the best and most well thought out “budget” dive watches ever made.
Yeah, it doesn’t hand wind, but if you wear it everyday it doesn’t matter. Bi-directional winding makes it work for even office dwellers.
Lume is outstanding. Bezel action (and design) is just about perfect.
Really, for anyone non-WIS, it is all the watch you really need.

I’ve been thinking of making an SRP009 one of these days. I think I have all the parts except a dark blue SRP chapter ring.

Thanks for reminding me that I have that bracelet somewhere. Now, I need to try to find it to see if it's the right size for that watch.stonehead887 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 1:52 pm009 is indeed awesome. I have mine on a super chunky Strapcode Super Engineer 2 and it rocks.

Here is mine. Bought it here years ago. Still wear it for the occasional beater duty.
Re: Seiko SKX009
I had bought my dad a 009 5 years ago, and it has been his "one watch" since then (pic below when his bezel stopped working ). I was bit by the WIS bug and started my own collection. I recently picked up a SKX007 as a "beater". Oddly enough, I got it, wore it, and fell for it. The above quote says it all. Even though I have "better" seikos and vintage pieces, etc, I find myself strapping on the SKX more than anything else. I have since upgraded to a NH movement, and it is pretty much perfect! My only minor gripes are non-drilled lugs and the crown guards are too bulky for me to easily adjust the crown, but other than that, its ideal!
