The new Shogun is here!

Post by 3migo » Thu Dec 17, 2020 11:45 am

Always had an interest in the old Shoguns, but never quite pulled the trigger on one.

When these new ones were introduced, I was immediately smitten by this white dial version. The new hands, the two tone bezel insert, and the white dial just did it for me. So I got in touch with Seiya, and a few dozen dollars later, DHL delivered this today.

So far, I'm very impressed. The details are well done, case has a nice varying brushed/polished style, bezel action is solid, and it's extremely comfortable/lightweight for its size thanks to the titanium.

Rubber strap is soft and quite comfortable, but definitely on the long side (as usual for Seiko). Lugs are 22mm, so plenty of strap swapping potential here.

Let me know if y'all have questions or want to see more pics of this one. ImageImageImageImage

I really like that. If it were me I’d remove the cyclops or swap out the Crystal for a flat sapphire, but the dial in the case and the bezel all work well for me. Congrats!

I like it more than the original shogun.

Yeah, I'd personally lose the cyclops but that does look really good. Congrats.

The original shogun is a personal fave. I didn't know there were new ones, they look fantastic! Congrats!

Looks sharp, congratulations.

When you get a chance, can you post a pic with the minute hand away from the cyclops?

Congrats, and best pictures I've seen of this one so far. I do like the white dial, but loath a cyclops on any watch.

For me the jury is still out on the hands.

Interesting looking strap, and I like it.

Import fees were roughly 6-6.5% off my back of the napkin math.

Seiya shipped/dropped off the watch with DHL on Tuesday morning. Got delivered this afternoon. Lightning fast.

I love that. The white dial reminds me of the GS quartz diver.

Russell congrats, I like it! That strap looks like the older GS style strap they offered a while back. Is the triangle pip raised? Are you going to post a review on your old website also?

It looks really good. The renderings were horrific.

The pip is not raised. As for a review, we actually took the old site offline a little while back, but I'll write up something more in depth here on the forum once I spend some more time with the watch.

I agree, the renderings weren't good. When I first saw the leaks of it, I didn't think much of it. It wasn't until I saw the real world shots on Monochrome watches' article that I knew I needed one.

I'll break out the real camera this weekend and grab some nice shots to add to the thread, so if there's anything y'all want to see, let me know.

Stock strap wasn't really doing it for me. Turns out I had a Toxic bond laying around. Much better.

Thinking I might also grab one of those new Synchron Tropic's for it. Image

Congrats

I’ve liked this one from the beginning. However some photos make the hands/indices look like brushed steel and some photos look like black hands/indices. I’m hoping they’re black to give it maximum contrast.

Both. The hands are brushed steel finish, and the indices have a black outline.

The hands look really nicely finished. That didn’t come through in the original renderings and photos.

What’s your wrist size? This watch looks huge.
