An Indy Rolex place will do it for less than $500. To me, $260 and $500 are effectively equivalent— assuming that the 6r actually is as robust as the Rolex 30xx (which can’t honestly be claimed given that the 6r was introduced decades after the Rolex movement).

Any BOD who has an unserviced 6r from 2006 should speak up. I’d like to hear how it compared to my unserviced GMT2 from 2004.
I assumed Rolex was like Omega and required anyone with a parts account to follow their pricing schedule… but maybe not the case.

The 6r movement is just a slightly upgraded 7s26 which has been around since the mid 90’s. Not comparing the movement performance… the Seiko’s have loose tolerances and high variation in accuracy, but they are reliable…. But cmon Jacob you are coming to the Seiko thread and saying $250 is meaningless to you while comparing cheap Seiko’s to much more expensive Rolexes.

How about this?

250/900 >> 800/25000

The running cost of a cheap watch is much much larger fraction of the price of a cheap watch. Which was my ultimate point. Cheap watches, TO ME, offer a false economy. If all someone can afford is a cheaper watch that’s a different story — I was there once. But buying (and ultimately flipping in a month) a cheap watch isn’t how I enjoy this hobby.

Not sure if everyone had time to see these new Seiko 5 Sports Kosuke
Kawamura Limited Editions already.

These watches take you back to the 1970’s, as well as the Seiko Time
Sonar. With details like a 42.5mm stainless steel cases, sporty diver’s
bezels, colorful, as well as partially transparent dials, Calibre 4R36
automatic, stainless steel bracelets, and NATO straps.

Some pictures for you...

That see through day/date bugs me. CW did the same thing, and it still bugs me.

 I don't totally hate it, but I don't prefer it either.

I think with a solid dial but keep the same design elements (red line around the dial, bezel insert, etc) it would be really cool looking

I have ordered one of these as I own an apartment in Noosa, so a personal connection. Australasian release only. My wife won't let me live there so I bought the watch dammit.

That's tops! Sumo is one of my favorites, maybe favorite of the under a grand Seiko pool.

How about the Seiko Prospex Alpinist ‘Rock Face’ European
Limited Edition? ..Have you guys seen this one? :)

The newest Alpinist has a 39.45mm stainless steel case, cool
rock face-like silver dial, and blue leather, or gray nylon straps.
With the calibre 6R35 automatic being there beneath it all.

I don't know if I like the Alpinist as a platform, but I do like the rock-face dial/number color/texture combo a whole lot.

I just wish they'd lume the numerals / hour markers on the Alpinist series. The tiny dots don't do it for me (spoiled by seiko divers lume)

Anyone check out the Seiko Prospex Speedtimer Solar Chronograph recently?

The watches have 41.4mm stainless steel cases, non rotating bezels with
aluminum inserts, plus nice dials which match up in panda, pepsi, and coke
mode. In addition, you have stainless steel bracelets, as well as Seiko solar
caliber V192 movement beneath everything.

Some pictures for you...
