Fuck yeah!! I sold my first one and they are no longer in production so it took some time to find my current one price at a “normal” price… eBay have some but they are selling for a lot more than MSRP.

I hope Seiko eventually releases an SPB143 or MM200 or Willard case in “gold”.

I never found the SKX series as nice (even for the price) as most people say they are. At that price point I preferred Citizen watches and some micros, but after the release of the NAFT and the newer and smaller SPB Prospex line, I really find Seiko improve the design and aesthetic of the watches. I know a lot of people have found inaceptable the performance of the 6R movements, but as a whole, I’m happy with the overall package of the newer Seikos for the price. As mentioned before, they can certainly be adjusted to spec, but agree they should come from the factory already adjusted.

And talking of quartz:

All have been horrible timekeepers and even the ones have had adjusted eventually drift anyway.
My Willard (purchased new) started out great. It was nearly quartz accurate. Then it started slowing down, losing like 40 s/d. I sent it in for warranty service, and it came back running great. It's been six months since the service and it's still running great.

I have a hunch they're improperly oiled at the factory, and the oil ends up getting somewhere it shouldn't be.

Oddly enough, the cheaper models I've owned have been excellent, reliable timekeepers.

Bottom line, a brand new watch shouldn't have to be serviced for it to run right.
That is very possible. It's unfortunately why I'm done with them. I've never had that problem with a Sellita, ETA, or Miyota.

The SKX wasn't really for me either. It just lacked something, felt cheap. That wasn't really a problem when they were actually cheap. The Turtle was a much nicer feeling product and with a domed sapphire it was nearly a perfect watch if the movement could maintain its accuracy.

My only Seiko right now is a SARB033 and I've had it for 6 years now. I think I'm going to get it properly serviced and reoiled and see if that helps with accuracy. It has some odd moments. I'll never sell that one. My wife bought it for me and I think its a great example of the perfect Seiko from that era. I had her buy it for me for Christmas because I kept buying and selling watches and I knew how good the SARB was, but nothing kept me from continually flipping them. Being a gift fixed that.

I have two extremely accurate Turtles at +5 s/d or less, and my MM300 is very consistent at +8 s/d.

As far as most of my 6R's go it depends on what direction the wind is blowing that day.

I've found they can drift from + s/d one week, and then a month later when I wear it again it's - s/d.

If you luckily get a good one that's a bonus as it will run very consistently. The problem is it's two hit or miss and those movements are not worth the money they're asking for it. When I bought them I made sure I was getting them at a very good price.

I've also gotten kind of lucky regulating a few of mine to make them acceptable for me

That's was always my issue, consistency. Made them hard to regulate too. I always knew if I bought a Seiko I'd be regulating it within a few months so I learned to do it. It just never felt like it stuck. I'd have to adjust it again after about 6-8 months.

The earlier ones were finished to a higher standard. I have one from '05 with nice, crisp edges separating the brushed and polished parts of the case. Even the knurling on the bezel is nice and crisp. Everything lines up, too. The ones I have from the 20-teens are softer and over-polished.

this could be pretty cool from someone who is the opposite of me and answers the "pirate or ninja" question "ninja." the marshal arts fan who wants something slightly kitschy, like my skull and crossbones lumed helson.

42mm, 520 euros, 15,000 piece "limited" edition.

looks like a new shogun, but the bezel cuts and center links look like it could be the new MM posted above with the catalog pics

My project is literally five minutes away from legendary Arizona Fine Time. For those that don’t know, they were the first Grand Seiko AD in the USA.

Image

I specifically came in here to check out the new MM 200m.

Image

Maybe it’s just me, but damn these are super blingie! Don’t get me wrong, the finishing is superb! I’m probably just too used to wearing my bead blasted Sinn’s. Plus 39.5mm is a no go for me Image
