Re: New Seiko Thread
That green nato would be perfect for my green willard. I do like the grey dial willard as well

Re: New Seiko Thread
Then, I read the article and the above Capt Willard is 1650 USD and it's not even LE, it's a regular production model which was about what the aforementioned Black and Green models were
Like a lot watched these days, I like it, but not 1650 like it - hopefully will 1/2 of that on the used market

Re: New Seiko Thread
That has to be a mistake. I can't believe it would be several hundred more than the previous Willards.

Re: New Seiko Thread
What are green Willards going for on the secondary market these days? I think I see one in my future. I've tried my best to ignore them and suppress the urge but I think I will fail at that.

I like this:
"Capitalizing on the Japanese craftsmanship that the brand is proud to use in most of its collection..."
Most*
* Chapter ring alignment excluded
Aren't most of the Seiko products made outside of Japan? How can Made in Malaysia qualify as Japanese craftsmanship? Maybe they are referring to the premium lines.

Japan has some of the most lax "made in" rules in the world. A Malaysian production line, staffed by nothing but Malaysian workers, overseen by a sufficient number of Japanese managers (IIRC it could just be one) qualifies as "made in Japan".

Re: New Seiko Thread
Sharkfin Dave had one of the LE SBDX's that had to go back to Japan for a new case. The tube is not replaceable. I changed out the one on mine because I listened to forum lore regarding tube issues.Selym wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 7:26 pmI think so, but I remember someone else having one repaired by Seiko.dnslater wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 6:27 pmDidn’t Terry replace his MM300 tube with a trip lock?Selym wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 2:46 pmThe SKX007 (7S26-0020 case) does not have a replaceable crown tube. It's either epoxied, welded, or press-fit into the case, and not available as a replacement part.Mr_Pacman wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 10:04 amSo the current MM300 (SLA021) cases also have a crown tube that can't be replaced?
The SKX007 has a replaceable crown tube, correct? Maybe I'll just go that way. I can't handle a potential new case for a stripped crown tube. I'm careful but have had it happen a few times over the years.
I've owned my SBDX001 (8L35-0010 case) for 11 years, and I haven't worn out the case tube yet. The threads on the crown and tube still work as new.
I seem to remember someone having an 8L35-0010 case tube replaced by Seiko. If memory serves, they drilled out the bad tube and laser-welded in a new one. So, it can be done.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I wish they had a little color on the dial (maybe "DIVER'S 200m" in red or orange). Most of the Prospex offerings are pretty much devoid of color, except for the "Arnie".
Re: New Seiko Thread
Agreed. Orange would’ve been a nice touch.Selym wrote:I wish they had a little color on the dial (maybe "DIVER'S 200m" in red or orange). Most of the Prospex offerings are pretty much devoid of color, except for the "Arnie".

Minute markers on the dial are blue to match the second hand; I'm fine with just the blue and white.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Not sure if everyone had time to see Seiko's Prospex Baby Tuna and Monster
Save The Ocean Antarctica models already.
Both the watches have a nice gradient blue ice-like texture dial with cool
penguin footprints. Along with 200m WR, Hardlex crystals, and unidirectional
bezels. However, the Bay Tuna has a 43.2mm case with 4R35 inside. As well
as a gray silicon strap. While the Monster has a 42.4mm case with Seiko 4R36
behind things, and a stainless steel bracelet instead.
Check them out...
Monochrome, and Seiko with much more...
