I’ve had that GS since 2016. If this hi beat is like the spring drive, it wears low and much better balanced than an MM300, PO, etc.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I'm not wild about the polished "pinstripes" (for lack of a better term) on the bracelets that Seiko uses on their higher-end offerings.
Even the "Turdle" bracelet has them.

Re: New Seiko Thread
Good point, Eric. I’ve tried Steve’s 015 and it feels compact for a big watch (48 x 14.7). I think maybe the Tuna’s much shorter lug to lug.HapaHapa wrote: ↑Sat Sep 11, 2021 11:24 amI think i had on an 015 or 017 tuna that day. The SBGA071 is only 14 high and 50.5 L2L, but it wears real low and flat. I’ll be curious to see the hi beat in comparison.

That 071 is my favorite, beautiful blue dial, Spring drive.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I won't even consider watches anymore unless they are 41mm and smaller, and relatively thin anymore.... however I sometimes wear my 015 on the weekends. Love the design and I guess it works for me as I see it as a weekend fun watch. Would never work as a daily office watch.
Re: New Seiko Thread
Hey everyone, have you checked out Seiko’s new Speedtimer
Mechanical, and Solar Chronographs?
The Mechanical has a 42.5mm stainless steel case, 100m
WR, sapphire crystal, neat sunray dials, plus stainless steel
bracelets, along with 8R46 movement.
Then the Speedtimer Solar has a 39mm stainless steel
case, sapphire crystal, 100m WR, colorful dials, along
with stainless steel bracelets, and V192 powering it all.
W&W, and Seiko with even more everyone...

Love the auto, but looks like it might wear like a tank. This solar is pretty hot.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I like the gray auto, but the size wouldn't work for me. I did pre-order the white solar though, I love a panda dial.
Here's something I'm trying to figure out, though. If the power reserve indicator is within that 6:00 subdial, where is the minute counter within that subdial?
Re: New Seiko Thread
If watch is not being used actively in chrono mode, it is always telling you the power reserve with that subdial. Once you start the chronograph, that dial switches to a chrono minute counter. Been used in a couple of Seiko's recently and is pretty novel.jswing wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 10:07 amI like the gray auto, but the size wouldn't work for me. Would be fun to try this watch out. Curious how the chronograph impacts power reserve with solar.
Re: New Seiko Thread
That's pretty cool. Interesting tech and it also keeps the power reserve from being the focal point of the dial every time you look at it (unlike just about every other power reserve).dnslater wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 11:13 amIf watch is not being used actively in chrono mode, it is always telling you the power reserve with that subdial. Re: New Seiko Thread
Cool, thanks! Looks like the release date is 11/6, so I hope to have one a couple days after that.dnslater wrote: ↑Thu Sep 30, 2021 11:13 amIf watch is not being used actively in chrono mode, it is always telling you the power reserve with that subdial. Re: New Seiko Thread
Will post as soon as received.
Re: New Seiko Thread
The white one is really tempting. Looking forward to real world pics
Re: New Seiko Thread
Holy cow, I'm really glad everyone is liking these so much.
And Jeff, wow, that is awesome that you already have one on
order like that. ..Man that was quick, and now the wait
begins, but am thinking it will be even more beautiful in person.
Some times you can just tell when a watch hits on all cylinders
right?!
This one's going to rock sir ! .. A GIANT congratulations ahead of
time to you on that !!!
A BIG thanks to everyone for chiming in on these !!!

You don’t see the blue vs black sub dials?Seppia wrote:Also, Seiya said the two version have a slight color difference.
He sent me this picture but the two watches look totally identical to me except for the text on the bottom of the dial LOL

Re: New Seiko Thread
This is odd. I trust Seiya to have correct info, but Seiko's site shows the US version with black subdials.

Re: New Seiko Thread
I believe the two watches are identical. The subdials appear to be black on both. The blue that you see is because the subdials are semi-translucent to accommodate the solar charging.
I’m not 100% on this, but everything I’ve found points to this being the case.
