Seiko SKZ327

Post by CGSshorty » Fri Sep 13, 2013 11:28 am

Also known as the Stargate because of the unusual bezel pip. I bought this exclusively to wear on Zulu/NATO straps and it has been absolutely ideal. The brushed/polished case combined with the PVD bezel allow me to use any finish I like on the strap hardware without it looking out of place. The plain black and white dial make it perfect for adding color with straps without clashing with color accents on the dial. This case works better for me than a 6309 or SKX style case because the longer lugs help plant the watch in the center of my wrist. I always end up fighting this on the other Seikos and it is the main reason they never stick long term. All in all, this is the most fun I've had with a $200 watch.

Not sure about this one yet. It was free so I thought I would give it a try.

Nice!

You should have it bead blasted, that would be tacti-cool! :)

Not a bad idea once it gets old and beat up. For now I like it shiny.

I might have to pick up 325 again. Not sure why I sold it.

I've loved this watch for a while but the only flaw is the raised bezel pip. Easy to get over for $200 range.

It's unusual, but you don't really notice it on the wrist.

Exactly. that includes the weird crown with a ring on it. It's a gorgeous watch on the wrist.

Nice mini review, Chris. It is quite the bargain.

What is that last strap? I like that.

I like the crown, but might not have if it had a red ring.

Thanks. The brown/red strap is from Gnomon. I think I like it, but haven't worn it out of the house yet.

Ahh the true test. Lol. Couldn't tell if it was a grey or brown? Looks good to me. And it's a nice contrast. Wear away m'man, it really does look good!

It is a weird light brown. I think I would like it more if it was darker. I'll take it out on it's maiden voyage tomorrow.

I really like this style and came close to pulling the trigger several times. I guess that's why grabbing the SAGQ005 was so easy to do. I'd love to see a "date only" Stargate with a 6R15 inside...

I like the crown, but might not have if it had a red ring.
That's ultimately why I sold my 325.
Red on the crown and also the red minute hand looked disproportionately smaller at most angles.

The 325 is ghastly.

The ring is easy to remove. I pulled the ring off of my BFK with a sharp pick tool. It's just rubberized paint and peels off if you can cut it with something sharp like a pick.

Great combos so far, Chris.

Now it's time to get serious.

That strap is what I think of every time I try the brown strap.

Love it Chris. Does it come with a bracelet?
