It's funny how taste works. Someone can say, "if they'd just build this exact watch, they'd sell millions", but honestly, I don't think I'd give much love to any of the watches mentioned thus far.

Now if they stopped messing around with Spring Drive and focused more on automatic movements and complications, that'd make me happy.

Truthfully my dream Seiko does exist, but as of right now I can't afford it. Yes, I was slow to come around to it, but I even like the fact that it's Spring Drive.

They already sell millions of watches...

Personally the only thing i would suggest them is to make a custom program where one can pick between a handful of cases, dials, crystals, hands, straps, and make his own watch... It would be a piece of cake to do and if they had direct sales lines they can have a quick turnaround time.

That's an interesting concept and if anyone could pull it off in serious volume it would be Seiko.

Another thing I'd like to add: A completely fresh upper-end prospex 200-300M un-shrouded diver in the <42mm >39mm X 12.5mm range. Something that falls between the Shogun and MM300 in terms of price or SD that comes in around the price of the SBDB005. Maybe Diashield SS or Ti as this stuff lives up to its expectations. I don't have one mark on my SBDX012 yet... not even a swirly on the clasp.

I m assuming seiko has a capable marketing department. If so, they may just know more about how to make money than we do. Having said that, some Japanese companies are very focused on their domestic market...

Yeah, none of us really agree. Even worse so than I expected.

That's fine. Hasn't stopped any of us from emailing Japan for one if it appeals to us!

I do think Seiko listens to a degree... People wanted a SD tuna and they got it. They knew the 6159 is highly sought after and made what I'm wearing now. They wanted a 9F diver and some wanted a ND offering and they delivered that too. I'm sure there's more I'm missing...

Yeah, it does not have to have lots of options but even with 4-5 different sets one can make lots of different watches... it would be for WIS use mostly but it could surely catch on with others, if reasonably priced. Zenton has something like that now that I remember...

The diashield data is great. I never had experience with that but it sounds like a good idea, they can do it affordably too...

Dear Seiko,

Please build a 42mm titanium Grand Seiko GMT, similar to the SBGE001 with good lume and WR. Spring Drive is OK.
If you put a large switch in some cave somewhere, with a sign on it saying 'End-of-the-World Switch. PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH', the paint wouldn't even have time to dry.

Yea, and it frightens me. I'm here alone tonight and think I'll have bad dreams.

You do know they make the SBGE015: http://www.ablogtowatch.com/grand-seiko ... tch-hands/

It's still the same size as the SBGE001 and has gold accents, but it's likely as close as you'll get. It also has a micro adjust clasp when the 001 does not.

Thank you. I did not know that.
