Nice. Refreshing to have a watch thread on this forum now and again.
Shogun rocks.

So true.
Shogun rocks.
I'm still at that "really? That much for that watch?" stage...

Gotta say though, this one may have the Tuna beat.
That says a lot. I loved the Tuna, but being that I never keep more than a few watches it just isn't that versatile. I prefer my most expensive pieces to be dressy enough for any occasion but still work in casual settings. Maybe the Shogun is worth a look.
You sold your tune also???
Yeah, I think I got bored with it for some reason. Excellent watch though. I may miss it in time, but I think I want something a bit more versatile.

I may do that. It may be time for another Omega.

One nice thing about Seiko is they don't change models every year with multiple variations the way Omega and others do. They get it right and leave it that way. Shogun has become a mini classic in its own right.
only accurate watches are interesting

I've read that they've discontinued it. Mine's got a build date of Sept. 2012 so I'm not sure if it's true or not.
I do feel like Omega waters down some of their models with special editions and such, Planet Oceans being the example with Bond editions, liquid metals, and I'm sure there's an Olympic model in there somewhere.

The discontinued thing has been rumored for the last 12-18 months, but IIRC is actually happened around June 2013. I'm guessing there is some remaining stock to deplete.

Has anyone been able to actually confirm it?

Last I heard, Higuchi was out of stock and Seiya had one but it had a misaligned bezel/dial/chapter ring.
I first read about it being discontinued in 2009, then it apparently wasn't. I got my current one in June (?) of this year and I'm looking for the email from Katsu....
Maybe they'll keep it on, but I'm not taking any chances.

I'm not really a fan of Omega's latest stuff. I was thinking of another Bond SMP, 2254, 2500 PO, or a Speedy. It's not something I'm planning immediately though. That might be a year or two down the road. My wife might not go back to work after the baby which is why my latest watch purchase is a but more conservative as I've been trying to build more savings. Before I was married I was buying and flipping a few watches a month. Priorities have changed it seems.
I am still most likely to pick an MM300 though when the time comes, especially if these prices continue.

If I remember correctly, they only discontinued the SBDC009 orange dial back in 2009. I've not seen real pictures of a 009 except for one member of WUS' back then. The orange model almost seems like a myth.

Oh yea!!! A nice dark blue.....or Air Force blue dial would be killer! I'd also be fine with a no-date Seiko diver...

I agree. Seiko doesn't have many blue divers I like. The Shogun would be a winner in blue as long as it would be the blue shade on the Sumo. I like the blue Monster, but it's a special edition that sells for more than the Monster has a right to be priced at. None of their higher lines seem to be available in blue. I'd love to see a blue Marinemaster too.

Navy blue, almost black, in the shade of a classic men's suit would be great on a watch but the makers all seem to prefer cobalt or some such color.

Will probably be one of those Seiko's like the Spork that isn't that popular while available, but suddenly popular when discontinued.

It is already, sort of. It's been out for about five (?) years but really only started to catch on in 2011-2012. I think its really as previously stated; when we look at its specs and price, we question it. When you've seen it in person, it makes more sense.

Great piece! Although I recently sold mine, there's no doubt that I'll pick up another down the road. Love the Shogun...

Thanks guys. For its size it has to be one of the most comfortable divers I've worn.
